tale of caution when buying on ebay
saw a set of "oem as new 313's" on ebay for a very reasonable price. decided id collect them (fortunately) anyway drive 200 miles roundtrip and £50 of petrol. arrive at the door the wheels are stacked waiting for collection. they were either bad copies or had been very badly reconditioned, whatever they were not as new. turned round and came home. just as well I went to collect as had I paid for them and had them delivered I would now been trying to get my money back. lesson learned!

Have you paid for the wheels even if not you can report to ebay with a case stating it was not as advertised as new so you have not gone ahead with the purchase and thus the seller as well gets warned. Even if you didnt have any financial transactions you can avoid a bad feedback rating to your id and the seller also wont dare to do that again in future?

Ebay is always very hit and miss, I use to buy and sell alloys wheels on there but its got to the point where everyone thinks their stuff is worth so much more than it truely is.
There appears to only be 2 types of ebayers, First - genuinely nice people, just trying to clear up old stuff thats in the garage or trying to make some money because they are skint. Second is put simply - thieves and dreamers, stuff thats been nicked, damaged, used & then sold on for profit, or dreaming that their items are worth as much as they paid for it 12 months ago (did no one ever hear the word depreciation) I am a keen fan of a ebay bargain but its got to the point where its practically impossible to tell the good sellers from the dodgeys now. This is mainly becuase sellers can't leave buyers negatives anymore, leading to "look how good my feedback" type comments are.... yeah mate your feedbacks great because no one can slag off how much of a MUG you really are. Rant over.....now back to working for a firm that sell using ebay.......DOH! |

To be fair if you pay by PayPal eBay is very good at protecting the buyer, I've had a couple of problems over the years where the item sent wasn't as described, both times the seller refused to send a refund, and both times I got my money back (including all P&P) via eBay/Paypal after reporting the seller, it took about 4 weeks to settle each, but still that's why I always pay by Paypal on eBay because it does offering you decent protection against people trying to rip you off!!

I tried to buy a set of OEM 313's on ebay once and the seller was saying that his mate had bought them from BMW, but didn't fit them to his car.
When I asked him to send me a copy of the receipt he told me he'd show me it when I collect them. When I emailed him to say that was fine, and I'd be bringing my missus with me who insisted on seeing the receipt as she was a Policewoman, the wheels and the seller miracously disappeared from eBay without a trace. |

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SET-OF-4-G...item416f1fe952 They do look good, and the info in the ad sounds genuine,so I can see why you thought they were pukka. Did you report the seller?

Unless I dreamed it I'm sure we've had something like that on here. Someone selling some wheels and then another member pops up saying the pictures were of some he'd sold.
