iPod (6FL), iDrive and NAV Functionality Question

I'm about 450 miles into my 2007 E90 328xi ... and am loving it. I especially enjoy the worthwhile 6FL option. But, here's my question:

I have 1,000's of songs and 100's of artists and albums on my iPod. When I want to listen to an album (or song) that starts with (for instance) the letter "t," the only way I seem to be able to get to that album (or song) is by turning the iDrive knob enough to cycle through to the "t's." Is there a shortcut to move through the alphabet without having to go through every song or every album until you reach the one you want?

Thanks!

I don't have my car yet, but I've read that what some people have done is to fill in the first letter of the artist name in the Genre category (in Itunes or whatever your using). Then in your car you can search by Genre, and you'll only have to scroll through at most the 26 letters of the alphabet.

Yup. BMW dropped the ball. This option (which mind you costs a decent amount of money) is garbage ...

Since this seems to be purely a software and UI issue, there is no reason to believe that with enough user feedback, BMW could very easily work in the alpha-search functionality like with the phonebook or nav destinations.

What we all need to do is pester our Service Advisors to submit this, and the other UI-related issues (like the way it reverts to a single-song playlist rather than the whole list of selected songs), to BMW. I am fairly confident that with enough of the same feedback that BMW will fix it. Unfortunately, moaning about it here will do nothing.
