Which of the existing cat-back is a true bolt on

Which of the current cat-backs don't involve cutting the exhaust? I think CP-E is a true bolt on any of the others?

Which of the cat-backs available can you just mount up to your car w/out hacking up/cutting the factory exhaust to make it fit. (I tried to edit the title, but couldn't change it).

From how I understand it, any exhaust that removes the 2nd Cat would be a "true" bolt on.

I haven't heard of any mass produced catback exhaust that requires cutting or hacking at it to make it fit. It bolts on.

No, not cutting the aftermarket cat-back - cutting the existing 335 exhaust off...then putting on the aftermarket exhaust. Most exhausts that I have had allowed me to simply unbolt the stock cat-back and then bolt on the aftermarket cat-back. Most of the pics I have seen of aftermarket cat-backs here don't have a flange that would bolt up to the remaining stock exhaust. (I'm must be having a hard time expalianing myself).

Thanks. Aside from CP-E's exhaust, do you know which others eliminate the secondary cats?

i understand what your saying.

Most aftermarket exhaust come either in a 1 peice or 3 inividual section exhaust.

all of them are bolt ons which bolt from the primary cat back.

Only time where youll have to cut anything off is when you only buy section 3, which is the muffler / tip part.

Im sure even if you get your exhaust custom made it can be a true bolt on.

Mine was made with 3 sections all connected by v clamps.

I believe almost all of them eliminate the 2nd Cat.
Borla is one of the few that don't eliminate the 2nd Cat.

SuperSprint

I have been told by SuperSprint that their catback - including mufflers, X-pipe and S-pipe (eliminating secondary cats) - is a direct bolt on.

Borla requires cutting, but the Ultimate Racing is a true bolt on..no cutting needed.

RD Sport offers a cat back with either Quad tips or Twin tips

Let me know if you have any questions

So if an exhaust comes with the mid pipe (section 2) and the rear muffler (section 3), then there is no cutting required ? im getting conflicting answers from people.

You would need section 1=front pipe, 2=mid-pipe plus rear mufflers for there to be no cutting

The lower pipe is the front pipe and the upper pipe is the mid pipe from RD Sport

Rear Muffler options of quad or race

thanks, so on the stock system section 1 and 2 are a single piece or welded together already, thus req cutting with a full replacement system.

Sam,

Why does Eisenmann use massive canisters and RD race use tiny ones? I'm leaning towards the race version just waiting for better sound clips

I need to ride in a 335i with an exhaust to see if I can deal with it day in and day out.

From what I understand, the OEM exhaust is ONE PIECE from tip to downpipe. Therefore, any exhaust that is "cat back" will not be technically bolt-on because you need to cut the stock exhaust.

That being said, even though you cut the stock exhaust, you can just bolt that back on if you need to instead of welding.
