Question E90 335i sport package - new wheel/tire questions

I have E90 335i with sport package (162 wheels). I really want to get csl type wheel in dark guntemal or matte black. Wife approves it for my bday, there is a catch, i cannot lower the suspension, because they already complaining that my car is too bumpy, oh well.

I just bought new michelin tires last june pilot sport all season non-rft, it only has 8k miles.

I am debating if i should get 18" or 19". Please note that i am not planning lower the car, i will keep the eom sport suspension setup.

If i get 18, it will only cost me around 1k because i will only buy wheels and i can use the existing tires correct? If the new wheel size is 18x8.5 and 18x9.5, can i put the wider tires like 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 later when my existing oem size tires are worn/bald?

If i get 19, it will cost me around 2k because i have to buy new tires too and 80% of people in the forum will say drop it, drop it drop it lol. However 19 may look better than 18 even it is on stock sport suspension.

Please help me make decisions. Thanks

I just switched to 19" PSS with Gloss Black wheels, and I am very happy.

I went with: front 235/35 and the rear 265/30

I run 19" 235/35 and 255/30. I love the control, however the ride is rough. The first layer of your suspension is your tire.
So what I'm saying is, happy wife, happy life! Stick with the 18s.

I was in the same boat, I drove my buddies car with 19's and I was able to notice the difference in ride. I opted to stick with 18's and got rid of the RFT and it has made a big difference. My wife was actually somewhat happy at least for a few min lol

Running 19's. non-RFT.
Ride is about the same as the 18 RFT.
I'm running 19x8.5 front and 19x9.5 rear.

18s for comfort and track. 19s for the looks.

I am curious if you made a decision & if so what you ended up going with? I am currently going through the same dilemma.

SCA,

I ended up getting csl style M359 matte black in 18x8 and 18X9. I was able to use exisiting tires. Total cost 700.

Please see my other post with the pics of new wheels and where i got the wheels.

I went through the same decision over the last few weeks. Decided to stay with 18s to keep cost down (I have nearly new RFT tires on the stock rims) and to keep the ride smoother. I got spacers to fill out the wheel well and give the car a nice look, but I'm really happy I stayed with 18s.

Diablo, where did you get spacers and how much? Did you do all 4 wheels or only back? I am thinking only the back... Fronts are fine. However, most shops will not install spacers because they said its dangerous...
