07 iDrive E90, can you add factory Sat radio

Hello all

I did a search and could not get a answer I need.
I have a 07 E90 with iDrive and the car does not have Sirius Radio.
I have a buddy with a 2 door 08 335i as a donar without iDrive but has Sirius and wondered if I could get his parts to work in my car? He does not use Sirius

Thanks
Sethro

Yes, it'll work but you would definitely need to code both cars, and of course you need to subscribe to sirius.

I noticed my car does not have the wiring to connect to the sat tuner, do I just take his out? Will it connect to my factory wiring harness somewhere?

Thanks
Seth

ah... in that case it'd be more involved. Check wds online, to find out the exact wiring scheme for you and your friend's car. Then you need to move the wiring from his car to yours.

Check your vin, if your car is sat prep, you may only need the unlock code to activate Sat radio. No hardware required. I can't remember when they swapped over to this but it was around this time.

I wonder what answer you really need because the Sirius retrofit is here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...irius+retrofit

No the unlock code was not until later. He needs his car to be equipped with "satellite prep" then the module from his friend's car, and to have the tuner coded in. Part of the process will be rearranging some fibers at the MOST connector behind the rear seat bolster as well. BTDT with my '09.

If he doesn't have "satellite prep" it is probably going to be more trouble than it's worth unless he really really wants Sirius.

Sat prep was optional in 2006 ($75) and standard in 2007+.

Run your VIN through one of the online VIN decoders; it shows up as an option code if you have it.
