I get about the same mileage, but I have an xi and I live in Seattle with a lot of elevation changes. Unfortunately, it always seems like I am driving uphill.

it seems that early on the gas mileage is not so great. It seems to improve slightly with age.

I have been getting 21.5 in mixed city/highway, and since I recently have been doing about 75% highway it jumped up to 22.8. I have an 328xi with 1350 miles now.
