Just bought 2011 e92 335i
Friday I purchased a 2011 e92 335i from CarMax in Jackson, MS. The car was transferred from a CarMax in VA where all the "maintenance/ inspection" work was done. There was an service sticker that said next oil change 16.9k miles and when I bought the car it was at 14.2k miles. I imagine Carmax got the car around 13.9k miles and are using the normal recommended 3-5k service life for conventional oil. Should I just change the oil at BMW at the recommended time or go to bmw now and make sure that it's running the right oil?

Go to BMW and make sure the proper oil is used in it. Chances are Carmax didn't bc they wouldn't have the proper oil in stock.
Also, of they used the proper oil they would know that BMW recommends 14,000 mile oil change intervals. So go to the dealer and get it handled or buy the porter oil off them and so it yourself and you'll have the peace of mind knowing your car is being maintained properly. Plus, if your not tuned or anything and don't drive it too hard you can go to their Max OCI and you change your oil once a year! It's a very cheap investment for you car! Also, enjoy the new ride!!! Congrats
