June 2007 320d - 450 miles on the clock.
2nd week in the shop, and 3rd AC compressor blowned, BMW has found out - as they were mounting a 4th compressor - that it was not coming from the actual compressor, but that something else (ie a pully) that had boken off and was causing the compressor to bust. Now, why did this pully broke in the first place? they don't seem to know, and they are just replacing it. Does this make sense? Has anyone heard of such thing? |

lesenard,
I reckon the pully has been tightened too much or is out of spec for it to break. If BMW stealer can't work out whats wrong ask them to pay for an independent inspection by an air con specialist. I would get that done for just peace of mind. The stealers don't work on air con systems day in day out. They just swap boxes till the BMW Modic (or whatever the new name is) tells them its all ok.
