Windex to Wipe down the car?
I took my car to a highly rated hand car wash place.... opted for a higher end package which would wash, clay, and wax the car.
I noticed that just before handing me the keys, the guys were wiping down the car with windex.... wont the windex remove the wax from the car? I dont know much about detailing, so I leave it to the professionals... maybe the use a wax which is strong enough to withstand windex? |

Usually, auto wash and detail places have a large quantity of supplies and products. I know most of the ones I know of reuse bottles.

Windex or glass cleaner was an old school way of getting polishing oils off before applying lsp. Nowadays there are better products or good old ipa. I would say they were reusing a bottle. Was the contents blue?

It was Windex- the guy specifically called out to someone to "pass the Windex"... thats what caught my attention.
And then I saw that the bottle was Windex labeled and had blue liquid that looks exactly like Windex. I just found it funny- never came to my mind that I could use Windex to shine up my car! |

I have seem them use windex at a car show. Its used to strip LSP's (last step products) i.e. wax or sealant. There are better alternatives today.

Windex makes several different cleaners and not all contain ammonia. The ammonia products will cut wax. Perhaps they were using a non-ammonia windex product?
