Discounted insurance for E90post members?
Hello,
Car insurance renewal is coming up and I've been quoted in the region of £1600 from my current insurer. The lowest I can seem to get the insurance is £1300 from elsewhere and so I wonder if like other enthusiast forums, does E90post have any association with an insurer to give a discount? I'm 27 - 6 years no claims, clean license, no mods. Driving an E90 SE 320i. |

have you looked on usual sights like comparethemarket and confused.com?
if you have other cars in the house you could do multi car insurance admiral, sky, adrian flux and maybe even privileged are some of the favorites used on here i think!

Yeah I've been trying those comparison sites, confused.com works out best for me with Admiral. Currently with Tesco at the moment, paid £1500 last year
Without the mrs on the car its £800-900. |

Direct Line tried screwing us over when I had an 3.2 A3 - All sorts of technicalities they wanted to wriggle out on.
Adrian Flux were absolutely fantastic when I insured my modified classic Mini and I would recommend them to anyone and everyone!! A* for them! |

It's not a rough area at all, but my mrs does have 6 points on her license, I think this could be affecting things. Even so, I didn't expect to be paying this much - even with her off its still quite high!

A cautionary note about Admiral. They treat a Speed Awareness Course the same as a conviction. It cost me 50 sheets and I will obviously be shopping around at renewal because I believe they are the only insurance company to take this attitude. They have only done it recently.
Please, no replies of "You don't need to tell your insurance company if you have been on a SAC." |

I got quoted £860 for my renewal with Adelaide Insurance, went on money supermarket and got a quote for £420, told Adelaide and they matched, saved over £400 for pressing a few buttons.

admiral multi car is great if u got more then one car bud it bring price down. thats such and expensive quote im 24 with 335d n 6 years no claims and mines onli £700
give admiral a call ive always found them so good always used them. comparison sites are rubbish half the decent insures don't allow there price to go up on there its best to go direct to them

I'll get on the blower to them this weekend I think. I have numerous extra security features that you can't submit online anyway and I would be interested to see if they will take them into account Thanks for the tips!

Sorry it's off topic but what's the Mini? I had (for 13 years) a 1970 J plate. Cooper S badged but was a Morris Mini 1000 with a 1275 and lots of other mods, loved it as a first car but soon got bored, took some parting with mind you, it was a bit of a labour of love. |

Privilege worked out the best for me...
And they didn't charge extra for alloys and other cosmetic mods... <£500 p.a

Well your missus is probably the issue, 6 points is not good. How old is she and how many NCD?
Maybe try adding your mum or dad, or someone in your family who has a fantastic driving record as a named driver? I'm with Admiral, nearly 3 years licence, 3 years named driver (+booster nonsense) on a 335i @ £1200, which is steep but I was stuck with admiral due to having named driver bonus and not real no claims . Also I had a non fault accident which adds ~£250 to the quote! You are definitely paying too much. |

I am due soon for renewel soon. Looking around, I am getting £210 for the year on a e92 325d m sport. 31yrs, 9yrs ncb and the wife as additional driver. No convictions.
Found out that leaving the car on the driveway and not in the garage decreases the quote by £20! |
