BMW E90 NCAP crash test at circa 60km/h
Hey all, just spotted this a while ago so would like to share it
These crash tests are done at around 60km/h (approx 40mph). Here is a very bad example : And the E90 : Uhhh, I feel safer now Regards

Whilst BMW's are superior to every car ever in every single way, hitting a stationary, deformable object at 37mph and walking away hardly makes me feel safe. I wonder what would happened with two cars head on/partially head on at 50-60mph. If there is a good chance of me walking away from a collision like that, i will feel much safer, however something tells me this would not be a realistic prospect

I work with fatal and serious collisions every day ... And have attended something like 300 over the last 12 years as a traffic officer ...
Safety has come on a long way and a simple way ... IMO of course ... Of looking at it is that *generally* the newer the model , whatever make, the safer you will be. Bmw's do seem to stand up well, but it does really depend how much energy from a collision your car ... And then you ... Have to absorb ! Too much and the car, no matter how good, can't perform miracles. Cars tend to hit and deflect off each other .... Whereas , as an example, hitting a tree is bad ... As it doesn't move. ... But I definitely think bmw's are fairly solid ... Which is reassuring |

But BMW only test the saloons, because they are stronger. Don't think the Coupe's are as good but will still be safe.
