Debadged Rear

With some patience and a hairdrier, I managed to pluck off the rear letters off my bootlid however, the sticky residue from the badge/letters still remained, even after a damn handwash

What safe chemical can I use to get rid of the sticky bits?

That's strange, I used tooth floss and rubbed if the residue with my dry finger.

Suggest looking at some detailer's web sites.

good luck.

I'd use iron x and a soft mitt, just keep going over but don't press too hard. I did this behind the number plate and worked a treat. You can also use it for wheels, its great stuff.

When I debadged my car, there was some left over residue. I'm not sure if you can get this stuff in the UK, but Goo Gone (http://www.amazon.com/Homax-Oz-Goo-G.../dp/B00006IBNJ) is a great product for removing residue. I applied a small amount on a MF towel, wiped it on the residue and it came off with ease. After that, I treated the area with Meguiars Scratch-X 2.0 and it came out great.

1. Tardis (the best option) Link
2. Methanol (Meths)

Thanks for all your help folks! Very quick response. In an effort to do this tomorrow, is there a product I can buy off the shelf rather than having to wait for someting to show up in the post? I don't really fancy driving around in a '33c' - which is what remains of the 335d stick residue lol.

Thanks.

@ Wesley Crusher, yeh I've just 'amazon'ed' Goo Gone and it's available so thanks, I'll look into that.

WD40? wow, well I have that lying right here! Must be asked.. will this not adversely affect the paintwork or am I being silly here? I know it's mainly made of Fish oil lol, but still, am I at risk of damaging any of the paintwork?

What do I do, apply straight onto bootlid or first on MF and then gently 'wax on wax off'? Lol.

Soak some toilet tissue or kitchen roll with it and then just stick it to the area and let it work its magic for a couple of minutes. Won't cause any harm to the paint at all, just give the area a good wipe over after.

Any solvent as has been mentioned will do it. It won't damage paint but it will remove wax so apply some wax and then buff it afterwards.
