Look at Edmunds and Kelly Blue Book, MINIs hold their value relatively well. |

he wants to sell the cooper and keep the scion............................. well that's another issue, but
if he doesn't want the cooper he should never take delivery and take cash value rather than the car, he would have to pay tax on the value of the car anyways so he should be able to get a check for value of the car minus taxes |

He paid the taxes.....around $2,000
There was no cash value option....like some Casinos! The main reasons that they want to get rid of the MINI... it's a Manual.....and too small for a family of 3....baby carseat...etc. and the Scion Xb.....Camry....or Accord is an option. His wife(my sister) just wants something with a little more room and an automatic.......without having to put out any cash or whatsoever..... I think my brother offered to buy it for $10,000.... but they said.....NO!

Don't trade it in...sell it private. If he's lucky, it should go for enough to cover the xB's full price.
Or you could teach your sister stick-shift, and the baby car seat isn't THAT bad is it? |

Definietely sell it privately - I know what they say about mini's holding their value - unfortunatley that's not true at all for trade-ins. I just traded my 03' pristine mini (15k miles) for the e91 (week 49 build) and got hosed on trade in - had a number of different dealers give offers and best I could do was 14k after a lot of negotiation....

underDAWG is asking about Minis, thinking of getting one while he waits on a 335ci.
