BC Coilovers Vs Koni FSD
I have my finger hovering over the " check out" button.
I know this is nothing new but I'm undecided, the price between the 2 is comparable , the shocks need replacing as they are well worn. I like the idea of the Konis best of both worlds , the car itself is a motorway mile muncher but it does have some nice new alloys which would benefit the arches being a bit closer hence the BC's but I really do not want to compromise on the comfort front which is where the Konis would shine .. inputs welcome |

No brainer, just google "BC coilover reviews",and your finger will only hit one button, and it won't begin with a 'B'.
Apologies to the BC boys, but there you go.

Yea I think I would have to agree. A relative installed BC's. All was fine intially but a clunking/knocking sound developed in the rear and was not resolvable even after numerous and some very expensive attempts. In the end he sold the BC's.

Fraid not, stepping up the extra £100 from FSD to BC would be as far as I would go , I have heard nothing but great stuff about the FSD's but using existing springs and top mount bearings was the caveat especially when they are over 100k old now, also would have liked a small drop , not much 10-15mm both something that the BC would have given ( new springs, top mounts + a drop)
I suppose i really should learn my lesson from experiences way in the past when I bought a set of Avo coilovers , then had to dump them 3 weeks later and go PSS9 because the AVO's were out and out the worst things going . Buy it cheap buy it twice as they say, maybe I should just settle for the FSD's. |

I have bc br kit just fitted to my e92 m3 and its developed a knocking noise from the rear? They have suggested adjusting the dampener travel which I will, but not best pleased having issues after a coupe of hundred miles! It may be this or faulty shock. Btw, don't mean to sway the ops decision. Ride is very good on the bcs.

From what I have read the FSD's do seem to fail more often then the koni sports, and that the sports are a better damper from an engineering/reliability view.
If you want the car lower why not go for the bilstein prokit (bilstein dampers with eibach springs) or koni do a similar thing matched with h&r springs. I have seen quite a few clunking/clicking noise issues associated with the BC's and I think its due to the pillowball type mounts transmitting more noise then the oem rubber mounts. |

They replaced both rear dampers but after a few hundred miles same issue. Can't fault the service as all was done free off charge. But sadly the product or batch was to blame. He sold them on in the end. Best of luck bud. |

Some of the issues with Koni FSDs were due to users not grasping what this damper is really about. Many were fitting wrong aftermarket springs, too short and/or too high a spring rate, to let the FSD work properly. Some were hitting the bump stops and causing premature issues with performance and longevity. Koni had great pressure to mate them to aftermarket springs, where as a design concept they were made to replace OEM dampers and work with stock suspension parts. I really think even running with Eibach springs is a bit of a compromise, even if they are made as kits. I ran mine for over 5-years and over 40k miles, with stock springs, sold the car with them still fitted and working well. HighlandPete |

appreciate that it's an expensive kit to start out with and a decent discount at that price but it's just out of my reach , it would have to fall into my declared budget to tempt me I'm just gutted I missed out by minutes on the FSD's that went for £300 a few weeks back |

No comment on the price of it..
But it only had 1000 miles of wear, I want someone to buy it and take the temptation away! I'd be interested in birds springs (£248) matched to stiffer arbs (£250) and bilsteins b4s shocks (£270). Could be a good middle ground... I realise that birds dampers are revalved

i run the BC Coilovers, the only reason i went for them was the good reviews i kept seeing about them (not from e90 post obviously)
had them on the car about 6 months and absolutely love em! not had a single problem with them the 30 way adjustable shocks is a real bonus! create the ride comfort you want! ![]()

Sorry mate-Was me who bought the used KSD's a few weeks ago.My coil spring snapped and three shocks were misting.
BMW wouldn't replace under warranty, quoting wear and tear and wanted over £1700 to replace.I needed something asap, but did a lot of research in a short amount of time! I wanted something a bit more comfortable over longer drives yet something that will allow a more focused drive when I needed it. I ended up replacing the M sport kit for a combination of KSD and Eibach Pro springs-it's a tried and tested route. Overall,I'm very happy and would have gone this route if the deal hadn't popped up. I bought my springs through Larkspeed as the offered free p&p.They would have done the lot with free p&p and are quite competitive. |

Why not buy new top mounts as well as the shocks?
