Went for a drive the other day...
Stuck my GoProHD2 to the back bumper and went for a spin round the block on Wednesday.
Sorry about the quality, the master is in full 1080p HD but the 'youtube' setting in MS Moviemaker has compressed it too much, will try harder next time! Turn it up!! and enjoy the countryside on our doorstep! All I can say is no need for a performance exhaust with Decat DPs - it sounds awesome. I'm sorry for having such great roads right off our drive! Get the little spin-up a 4.10...... Last edited by doughboy; 03-01-2013 at 07:39 AM.. |

Nice.
I like mine too, especially with the exhaust valves open. But from inside the car its much quieter... With Meth flowing it seems louder though, have you found this too? I like the overtake at 4.50, just goes to show how quick a modded 335i is in the mid range - Bye Bye!!

Thanks, it's a nice POV on the back bumper, and the GoPro mic really works well.
I run with the exhaust flap open and I really like the sound, although its open anyway at higher revs/throttle. The exhaust noise really hardens as you wind it up, the spin and pop on shift to second at 4.10 is wicked.... (manual box naturally ![]() Not installed the meth kit yet - its still sitting in the garage awaiting warmer weather but its quite logical that noise is related to power output, more bang = more noise! I'll do another vid soon, the roads are still a bit cold. Last edited by doughboy; 03-01-2013 at 07:55 AM.. |

Awesome, been thinking of doing something like this for a while now. Does yours pop as you change down through the gears? Mine does this with a standard exhaust, sounds great with the sunroof and windows open!

Yes, often pops and bangs, the DPs add a real metallic snarl to it up front, which you can't fully appreciate from the back, but you can really hear it with your window open as you pass walls etc.
Got some better routes to try, warmer tarmac would be good too... I've had the GoPro car sucker mount a while now (its tested to 186mph ![]() Obviously you can't go mad/silly, as i imagine if a copper spotted the camera they'd pull you sharpish and confiscate it as possible evidence for sure - so always full secure-wipe & format the SD card on every trip!! That's the plus side of living in the sticks, I've not seen a copper on the local roads in 18 months! |

awesome Doug/Mike one of my fav roads; the camera doesnt doesn't show it that well but the angles of some of those corners are quite sharp so your car has a lot of grip.
I didnt recognise the second route but figured it out once you turned back onto the road. Will have to try that one sometime now i know. P.S. very nice location to live! You have a nice commute if you still work in stone. Does the camera have a second point of failure, like a boot strap or will it literally hang on by the sucker? |

Great vid Mike,I did the same when I had mine.
Living where you do you're probably used to hearing tractors,so my vid and soundtrack didn't have such a aurally pleasurable sound to it. The go pro on the back bumper also only shows speed limits going in the opposite direction to the way you're travelling, and the limits going the other way are always different,as everyone knows ![]() Great sound on the beast, must be an awesome drive for a hearse ![]()

![]() Only in Stone from time to time, I have a van for my current commute to Deeside in Flintshire. No camera strap, just the sucker, but believe me I think the bumper would fall of before that! Thanks, the Low POV and wide angle makes things disappear quickly, but if you listen I don't even get much out of third gear or even above 5.5krpm, so the actuall speeds were well within acceptable limits..... |

I just watched it again.
Have you noticed any clutch slip on your car? Mine is slipping badly with meth flowing but starting to slip a little on map 2/5 now too ![]() I only mention this cos I notice during the overtake at 4.50 that the engine note increases quickly and then drops slightly as though the clutch is catching up.. I dont want to worry you!

sounds good. Bit like an E46 M3. I'm picking mine up next week with new turbos and catless dp's. Hope it comes back sounding like yours.

Could be clutch slip, although the cold weather does give slight wheelspin in third, lots in second. Although in my experience if a clutch slips it will not bite until you back off. I'll have to keep an eye / ear on it... |

Mine catches up if you keep your foot in...
Its mainly high torque in the mid range which is a problem (which is why meth causes the worst issue). Change down a gear and its fine. I do need to do something about it though. Spec 2+ and LUK DMF or Spec 2+ and Spec Lightened FW?? Decisions..Decisions....

![]() I always tether mine when it's outside the car. If it's the standard GoPro suction mount you're using, it's good (and claimed to be good up to 100mph, not 186), but not infallible. Plenty videos on Youtube where the suction mount has failed! |

hmm... in had noticed an odd sensation of revs increasing from 3.5 to 4k whenWOT in higher gears on mway. 1st/2nd and third in wet/cold it just spins up, but i suppose if the grip is their it will slip the clutch instead.... Last edited by doughboy; 03-01-2013 at 02:30 PM.. |

I'm tempted to try removing some of the sound deadening from the exhaust like this:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=739970 Also get some cyba dual/ quad tips welded on at the same time. I can't justify £800 on a bastuck exhaust right now but want a bit more sound!!

Thanks for posting, I don't think I could have helped my self at that junction though!
Don't think it sounds like an E46 M3 at all, the M3 has a far more metalic rasp! Sounds nice. When you went past the railway, you were covering approximately 75-80m in just under 2 seconds. If anyone wants to work that one in mph. |

Nice video, i liked it. You're car is just begging for a BMW Performance exhaust though!
I filmed a little drive about a while back too. Phone wedged under the passenger headrest. Nowhere near as good as your GoPro one though! |
