JB3 Rip Off by Mechanic! Pls see Pics....

Dear E9X friends,

I've had my car for 4 weeks now and the JB+ that was installed by my mechanic looks nothing like it...how did I come about this?

....last night I was modifying my box from the standard MOD 5 to get more juice for a certain reason.

I then realized the following...

1) The piggybck box has no identification marks on the outside but looks identical to the JB+. This is why I didnt ask any questions as it was a used box (1 year) and the previous owner upgraded to JB4.

2) Once opened, the dial (0-10) was completely different then the manual!!! It was covered by a heat resistant plastic and the dial was (0-100)????

3) Its attached to the TMAP sensor just like the JB+, but the box doesn't have any detailing or identification stamps marks other than the (0-100 dial), however upon a closer look, a real hard look lol, the side of the dial reads - 08/10 MEXICO. Now All i could read on the little dial, given how small it was, is 08/10 mexixx so i assume the last two words worn off due to heat, but I assume it means Mexico. Very far from Beirut Lebanon....the car was recently imported from Miami with a clean Car-fax and full inspection by BMW Beirut.

Here are some pictures, starting from the TMAP to the Piggyback box and adjustment dial.

I would highly and most respectfully appreciate any feedback on what model this is where it came from and whether I need to chuck it out....even though it gives a hell of a push, or if its worthy to keep.

Any Professional answers would be appreciated.

so basically you run a jb3 and than that other box which is not a jb+? you should not run both. remove that crap attached to the tmap.

its just a different type of tmap sensor turbo tuner.

people use JB+ or turbo tuners to just get a few more PSI.

No, I thought it was a JB3...but after a closer look it doesn't look like a JB3 does it....I am not running both...I would never do that.

A freind of mine mentioned Vivid Racing after looking at the box...however there still aint any markings, and the set up looks quite clean.

I would really like know what box this is...if its worth keeping or not.

Im sure someone knows what box and manufacturer it came from...please

True, same response I got from a few other people...however I would love to know what the output is...that way I could adjust the gauge accordingly depending on my needs...but when I put it on 100...dam the car shot like a plane...just don't want to damage my turbos even though I've got AA BOV for surG pressure...

get a boost gauge. why dont you just remove that and buy a jb4 or cobb tune?

Thats what I was thinking, however money is an issue right now. And FYI I hv 1 TMAP sensor like every other N54 so theres no way I could be running 2.

I think JB4 would be my next tune. But a boost G would certainly help determine the output.

JB3/JB4 are connected directly into the ECU, NOT the TMAP sensor like JB+.
I would keep the dial at half way for now till you save some money for a real tune.

Correct, i meant jb+ PnP.... apologies.
Sure, its on 6...or 60 lol what ever this AfterM tune box is...I will turn it down to 4 (40) which is what it was originally on. But it has been ok on 6(60). Need to reduce by 1 you think or go back to 40? I've read your set up so you have much more experience than me....I guess its only 1, to 2 above what it was originally on? no naughty codes yet after 2 days of aggressive driving.

I'm still very curious, but we don't always get what we want. I will get the JB4 soon, and remove the ghost TMAP Tune...even though its very impressive. I just wish I could sell it bc in Lebanon, we dont have a lot of 335i's, and most of them are happy with the stock lol. Not me though! If I knew what the description was at least I could sell it on eBAY...hmmm
