Reversing camera | Dension Gateway 500 - Help
Question for you lovely people... I'm planning on buying a Dension Gateway 500 with the BTA and AVR module so as to have BT and TV playback through thr idrive screen.. but what if i also want a reversing camera with beepage?
I have pre LCI CCC iDrive dual slot, no CD Changer FYI What else do I need to connect up, say for example this .. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Parkin...51218662771%26 Can anyone recommend anything else not too pricey but of good quality? Is there anyway to hook it up to the Dension gateway and will that actually do the business? Cheers Last edited by AWBimmer; 03-07-2013 at 04:39 AM.. |

I believe the AVR module gives you the rear view camera input, all rear view cameras will work, you can get them from china for about £13 for the same as you listed just make sure its a CCD camera.
There is other multimedia devices that can do the av inputs and reversing camera but they won't give you the features of the Dension, I am waiting for one to arrive for my CIC but that doesn't need bluetooth etc This is what I've just ordered, I will be be doing a full write up once I install it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1609775780...84.m1497.l2649 Last edited by Bomber; 03-07-2013 at 04:47 AM.. |

Thanks bud. Is this AVR module in-built on any of the newer Dension kits, such as the Dension 500S / BT? Just trying to see where I can cut unnecessary costs. Do you know if I need the BTA from Dension even if I already have Bluetooth enabled in my car? I guess the BTA is there to enable Bluetooth functionality with Dension kit.
Would you mind sending a link for the £13 camera you’re referring to and also, where do they actually get mounted? The link you’ve posted is the whole package in one I assume, i.e. the multimedia device with parking assist etc? I guess what I’m after is being able to play all my music via Dension and also having some camera facility for parking with all the usual gongs and chimes. Thanks again. Kind regards, |

I don't really know the Dension units, I just had a quick read up, there is no mention of the rear view camera input on the 500s
Here is one of the cameras http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CCD-SONY-C...item35b884fcb2 They replace one of the number plate lights. Yes the interface i'm getting is just for AV inputs and rear view camera. |

Stupid Q but do we need only the 1 unit of both units?
As functional as they are, I can't help but think they do look bit out of place, sticking out. If only they were somehow able to fold in when not in use and fold out when in use... do units like that even exist? Good little market if not....! |

Re: fold in fold out, I was implying that these should automatically detect when the car is in Reverse mode so as to pop out and then go back in neatly when in any other gear lol.. |
