No warning light for alternator failure?

so i bought my car from this used car dealership and the car had a problem where it wouldn't start and went completely dead. so i took it to them to get fixed and they said it was the alternator.

But the thing is, wouldn't a warning light go off to signify something is wrong with the car? at least the low battery charge light? cause im thinking if a light is supposed to go on, and it doesn't then there is a problem bigger than the alternator

Is this a BMW dealer? The problem could also be the IBS or a worn out battery.

I had just about every light but the battery charge light come on when my alternator went. DSC light, brake light, radio dead, no AC, all kinds of stuff then the engine died.
