Hi, in terms of "looking out for" I'd be tempted to check over the bodywork closely, make sure it is the spec you ordered.

In terms of the dealer clean - unless you specifically ask them not to I'd expect that they will valet it anyway? Mine did and I didn't fork out for it (or maybe its included?)

I would be tempted to get a new car professionally detailed - it will never look better than having that done however it could cost a few hundred quid. Or do it yourself if you have the time, inclination and purchase the products.

TC if you do find scratches get them to fix it asap - I found two on mine got it sorted before I left stealers. Sales guy was very apologetic.

I can't find mine in the glove box, anyone know when they stopped including them? Gutted. Cheapskates. Not that I'd ever use it...

Yes they should fix anything like that although whether they can fix them to satisfaction is another matter!

The detailing can be done at any time. Some people wait for years then get their car to be made to look like new. Maybe wait until you get a few swirl marks/minor scratches in it (hopefully you won't but inevitably you will) - that's what I'm doing.

RE: Detailers, best bet is to go onto detailingworld.co.uk and ask on there - there's detailers all over the country and you can view their work. Careful though you might get suckered in and end up spending loads on products and doing it yourself!

it would piss me off spending like a WHOLE day detailing only to go for a thrash and get the fooker dirty

You are missing the point Carlos...it makes cleaning easier. Mine looks better than brand new and I spend about 2 hours every other week on it now...all because I did the detailing thang on it when I got it.

And unless you are going for a thrash in the fields/rain it is possible to do so without getting it particularly dirty!
