Noob question after DCI install
hi guys,
i have a 2010 335i xdrive. just installed CP-E DCI. thought everything went well. was i too aggressive in either: inserting each filter into its coupler, OR sliding the intake tube into the factory accordion coupler? seems like all the pictures of installed DCI's look like the filters are right on top of each other, pretty much touching each other. as you can see, i have a decent gap between them. should this matter? also, as you can see, i bend/twisted some of the fins on the filters. i was trying to watch my daughter riding back in the driveway, while fighting sunset and doing the install. no excuses, but... should that matter as well? call me paranoid but during the test drive afterward the car seemed a little laggy. definitely could hear the intake, just seemed like boost wasn't as smooth. i do believe the ECU needs a day or two to adapt to the intake? any help would be appreciated..be gentle

They look fine to me. Fins shouldn't make a difference bu I'm know expert. You can play with them and move em around but they look fine to me.

Do you have a tune? If not, then then yah, your feeling of a little laggy might be right. I use to have an AFE DCI in my N54 135, and it is night and day when I switch back to stock intakes. But then again, I'm no expert. Maybe someone can chime in.

Thanks for the quick replies guys; my next step will be a tune (probably JB4). Will this slightly less strong feeling go away with the tune?
Thanks again -c

will do
you know, i bought this car with the intention of it being my DD (it already has two car seats in the back). after two weeks of ownership i've fallen in love with it and have so far debadged, black kidney grill and DCI; have DCT paddle shifters on order as well as LUX LED angel eyes. I'm sure i'll be buying a JB4 by the end of the week. Forced induction is just too addictive -c

Congrats on the car O.P, i feel the same way about mine. I cant recall mine being laggier but IMO felt smoother and stronger even for DD. How do I know? The day I took them off, my wife noticed the car feeling "weaker" when she drove it a couple of times after. She didnt know I had taken the DCI off, by her feeling the difference from stock to having the DCI tells me a lot.
After owning my 335i for almost a year, finally getting the JB and LUX lights as well, all worth the money IMO!
