Odd 'crank' sound when braking going really slow?
Not sure what the sound is, but when i'm coasting about 10-20 MPH, and hit the brakes, it sounds makes a "crank" sound like my gears are shifting, etc? Can anyone identify why that is? It's certainly not my gears changing. When I am going normal speeds and brake, it doesn't replicate the noise, only going a few MPH's.
Thanks guys! Last edited by nicky dj; 03-12-2013 at 05:48 PM.. |

Loose engine mount or supension maybe? I will start by looking at those...

Automatic, but ya It sounds or feels like nothing to do with the tranny. As it's still in 2nd gear with no shift in between. Definetly sounds like a suspension or mounting issue would be my assumption, just don't know specifically what?

Go around to all the suspnsion components and check the bolts. I doubt that is it but it's always possible. Motor mounts do wear over time and can crack. You would need to check those out visually. However, this may just be brake noise? Unfortunately your situation is EXTREMELY broad so it's hard to narrow it down without hearing the car. Perhaps a video can capture some of the sound and direction? |

Ya, that's what I am going to do. Just was hoping for some insight before I brought it in, because you know how dealership's are, they will try to negate any service, even under warranty, if you're not able to replicate it, or it's not an issue straight smack in their face.
