Ronald contacted us about having his 2009 BMW 328xi converted to a proper HID projector conversion and we just had him drop off the lights last week. We knew going in these would be perma-sealed, but having done a handful of new BMW's with the perma-seal, we were not worried. Unlike other vendors that take the easy, yet more invasive method to separate the lenses; we use the traditional oven heating method which softens up the sealant into a more workable state. Using special tools and techniques, we are able to open the headlights without any major damages; in this case there was no damage at all. The seams all look the same way we started with, nice and clean without any tears. The factory perma-seal is removed and replaced with our OEM Koito butyl rubber sealant. This provides a great seal without any issues relating to condensation that come up. We setup Ronald with the FXR Stage 1 system, using the E46 shrouds, Morimoto 35w 4300K ballasts and bulb, and a Morimoto wiring harness. We will be using resistors mounted to the cars frame to prevent any error codes and flickering. The complete internals were painted a gloss black for the custom look Ronald requested. 94mm LED angel eyes were mounted on the low beam, and 100mm angel eyes were mounted on the high beam. The factory high beam in this case was blacked out as requested, while it is still functional, the new bixenon projector takes care of the low and high beam performance. Please let us know if you have any questions relating to this conversion. Thank you!

"Black Chrome Effect"

Caesar's been experimenting with his new favorite painting finish; the black chrome effect. He's been wanting to put it to use on on his car, so he traded off the headlights with a local customer and started with a clean slate. In order to pull off the look on his own car, he knew it had to be a very dark black chrome effect. Adding in some extra black to the clear coat mixture, he was able to get the results desired. Only the original chrome pieces will have this effect, which includes the shrouds and the turn signals which are covered with a clear cover. The inner housing is already black from the factory so if you look up close you can see the difference in the color. The factory angel eyes were removed and replaced with the LED rings. The cornering lamp cover was also tinted to give it a darker look. The projector shield was removed and painted with a black to match the darker appearance inside the angel eye rings. Factory ZKW lenses were used for the projector upgrade, along with a few other tweaks to maximize performance. Factory sealant was removed and replaced with the OEM koito sealant. Please let us know your thoughts!

Unmesh dropped off his BMW E90 LCI headlights when we told him we could modify them without cutting them open; like many other service providers are now offering. Even with the cleanest of methods, cutting the lamps leaves a lot to be desired. Even though our method takes a little longer, the results speaks for themselves.

Unmesh provided the Umnitza LED angel eye rings and had us install them into the housings while we had them open. These LED rings replace the original fiber optic technology with a much brighter and more uniform angel eye ring.

Requesting a full black out theme proved to be a challenge since each housing has 7 separate pieces that require painting. Besides the eye brow, and the fins on the LED cover which were painted Jet Black with a clear coat, the remainder of the pieces were painted a semi flat black. The gloss black provides a nice contrast between the pieces.

Finally we removed the stock projector lenses and replaced it with a custom clear lens. The result is a clearer, crisper, and more colorful cutoff line.

The stock permanent sealant was removed and replaced with black koito butyl sealant. This allows the lamps to be easily serviced in the future and provides superior protection over other butyl sealant sold on the market.

The stock lenses were badly pitted so a full stage 2 lens restoration was performed. Starting a 400 grit sand paper, each lens was hand sanded all the way through 2000 grit sand paper revealing a fresh layer of plastic. Menzerna compounds and polishes were used to restore the luster, and Opti Seal was added on at the end for superior UV and scratch protection.

If you have any questions relating to this conversion, please do not hesitate to contact us.

These are my lights... I can vouch for Caesar and the amazing work he does at LightWerkz. I have had 4 sets of lights retrofitted by him to date and he has continued to impress me with this quality of work, fit & finish, and amazing customer service.

As for this particular set, his work was flawless as usual. Caesar worked with me to customize everything I wanted to on the headlights (paint scheme, umnitza rings, & lens swap). The cutoff was perfect and light output was significantly improved. And not to mention how sick the led angels looked!!

I stand behind LightWerkz and highly recommend getting your lights done with them.

Fredik purchased a set of lamps stateside and had us build a set of the ultimate E46 headlights for his BMW over in Sweden. These headlights are retrofitted with 2 FXR Bixenon projectors per side, both have low and high beam function. The inner housings and shrouds were painting semi flat black with a titanium silver ring around the shroud. New lenses were purchased and Lamin-x film was added for protection. Adam from LightWerkz completed this conversion. Enjoy!

Hey guys,

I asked about converting my set of LCI halogens a couple years ago and you guys were hesitant to cut open the lights rather than pry them open. The set at the top look amazing! Can you PM pricing for just the halo's and HID projectors/bulbs+ballast?

Also, the new shop looks great

Can you Pm me a price to have my e92 headlights modded like Caesar did to his? I would like to do them from the ground up as well so I can keep my stock housing OEM for when I go to sell the car so any insight on where I could get a housing to start with would be great too. Thanks!

Aaron sent over a new set of DJ Auto Headlights for the FXR Bixenon Projector Conversion. The setup was paired with the E55 shrouds, and the OEM fresnel glass in front of the projectors was removed in order to maximize light output. The internals we painted black since some of the area is exposed due to the glass being removed, but you can barely notice anything. The headlights are being powered by the OEM Denso ballasts and Philips bulbs. The conversion was completed by Julian. Enjoy!

Ben contacted us to find out if we could offer anything for his BMW 135i. His car was at a local shop getting some work done, so the timing to get his lights done was perfect. Never having worked with the 135i lights, we took the challenge. These are sealed up with BMW's extremely strong permanent sealant, but that didn't stop us. We had alot of success doing the BMW E90 LCI 3 Series headlights, and figured this would be the same thing....and it was. It's a painfully long process to open the headlights and remove the original sealant, but in the end its all worth it when you don't see the lens hacked off the housing with gobs of silicone over the edge to make sure water does not leak in. The original sealant is removed and replaced with the OEM Koito Butyl Rubber sealant, which is a strong but reusable sealant.

Ben's main concern was the amber and painted housings, but then he also figured he would do the angel eyes at the same time. We used the Luce Produkt LED Angel Eye kit on this application and they fit up perfectly.

Anyways, enough talking here are some photos of the process...

Stock lights overview:

Here's how the lights would have looked without painting over the amber. Still pretty clean, but overall seems like something is missing...

Sealant still inside channel:

Stock sealant removal:

Masking the amber:
This piece was painted inside and outside, so no amber reflections would be seen.

Examining the channel, making sure all perma-seal is removed:

Nice consistent bead of sealant added to channel:

Michael sent in his OEM Bixenon headlights for the quad projector conversion. He chose the Morimoto H1 Bixenon projectors in the high beam reflector. A matching E46 shroud was mounted inside the high beam reflector for the OEM look. The reflectors and shrouds were painted a Jet Black with gloss clear coat. Michael already had the carbon housings installed, which adds to the aggressive final look of this setup. We also upgraded his OEM Bixenon projectors with the ZKW-R clear lenses for maximum performance. Michael is running Philips 6000K D2S bulbs in the original projector location and 3000K H1 bulbs on the inner projectors for a unique look. Please let us know if you have any questions!

Ronald finally came in for the installation of his retrofitted headlights. We used the Morimoto 35w ballasts along with the relayed wiring harness connected to the battery which provides proper power deliver and flicker/error free usage when combined with the resistors. Let us know if you have any questions!
