hi guys some of you may know that i blew my engine, anyways its a 2007 335i coupe with 110,000KM on it and i have about $5000 in mods.
i have 2 options, i need advice.

1) i got a qoute of $13,400 to swap the engine and get everything running
2) i sell the car as is, im not sure how much i can get because it has a blown engine? not sure if anyone would even want it?

please give me some advice guys!

Seek out a used motor cheaper, and seek out cheaper labor. You gotta make some phone calls.

What it's worth will depend on who's ready to do the work themselves or pay for it to get done. At that point you take the highest bidder.

Take the Blue Book Value, subtract the cost to get the car back up and running. That is usually what someone is willing to pay.

$13k??? My god. I bought a used N54 with 30k miles complete with 6 speed auto trans, transfer case, front driveshaft, front differential, and front output shafts for $3k!!!

Yes I got a great deal, but there are tons of n54s available under $4k. Doing a direct swap is easy.

You can find a used complete motor for $5k and under.

13k is probably the dealer price. Try a reputable Indy shop, they can probably also source you a motor. You might pay a bit more if they source the motor, but they will most likely warranty the motor if it doesn't work.

5000$ in engine mod it worthless to most buyers if you are selling it with the car. If your marketing your reach passed the BMW enthusiast crowd than the mods hurt your chance of selling it. My advice part out your mods and return the car back to working condition with parts from a junk yard or other people selling on these forums and then sell the car as is, but running. It may take a little time but it will payoff in the end vs someone practically stealing the car from you because they will play on your emotions to get out of your current situation.

If I were you...find me a used motor like many have suggested, order a Bentley manual and a couple hundred bucks of metric tools including a torque wrench and an engine hoist and go to work. Read manual front to back and label everything. Take your time and be safe.

Mother of god! $13k? Really?

+1 on getting this done by an indie shop with a used engine. Resale value will still go down a bit but a car with a blown engine is next to un-sellable.

well depends where you live but for me it was around 8K with a 25k miles used engine.

Does anyone now where i can get a motor for my F30 335i, Motor blown and BMW not covering me, some tech at the local BMW told the regional tech that i race my car at the track... thats a lie. Now i have a 2 year old car that havent been running for the last 2 months. BMW NA havent told me the guy name that said i race but im sure they said that because i been bad mouthing the dealership on social media. and everything i said about them was true. I was thinking of selling the car as is and get another one or fix it. What do you guys think?

If what you state is true, and you are under warranty, why not fight?

That's the most absurd thing I've ever heard. They can't deny a warranty claim because some guy said you race your car.

Tell them to cover it, or you're going to buy an S4.
