CDV help in LA (West Side)

Hey guys, I've had a modified CDV sitting in my closet for the last month because I'm too much of a wimp to install it myself. Anybody in LA (I'm in Santa Monica) that knows how to install it properly willing to help me out?

I drove by 1884 S. Sepulveda looking for Autotalent and the building looked vacant, there was no sign and the windows had cardboard in them - am I missing something?

In a recent thread made by Sam, he mentioned that they're in the process of moving to a bigger and better location...maybe that's why?

hey bro,
Let me know how the CDV replacement goes. I've always been curious and never had any issues with the OEM setup.

They completly removed mine (no replacement) and I love it! almost as good as installing a procede imo a must for all 6MT owners.

Fo sho, you'll have to give it a spin and see what it feels like

Yeah?
I'm just not clear on what the benefits are. Guess I just have to test it out.

It eliminates that little bit of clutch slip you can't seem to get rid of no matter what. Supposedly its more noticeable when driving fast (obviously). We shall see - I'm not expecting miracles, but others who have done it seem pretty happy.

I had mine done at AutoTalent and was pleased with the work. I didn't know exactly what to expect, either.

All I can say is I've been driving manuals for about 20 years, but in the 335i, each gear shift was like an engage-slip-engage with the engine going "wah, wah..."; the lower the gear, the more pronounced. After the fix, it's just a straight engage, with an engine going "wah..." most of the time. But, it's not really a dramatic change IMO - it's subtle to the point that I'm not sure it really helps launch times so much, it just feels better to drive.

I did get my first 3rd gear "chirp" after having this done, but it was also the first time I really tried hard to launch it, post break-in period.

Good luck - can't really go wrong, just don't expect *too* much.

Yeah I don't really care if it makes things any faster, something just feels weird about how the clutch engages right now and I'm figuring this change will make me happier.
