335i Exhaust Options in Aus

Have started to do some research but figured I would ask the question of people with more experience than me.

Okay so what are the options for exhaust upgrades in Aus? Not looking for the WRX "I'm a tool drain pipe", rather something that gives a beafier note and free's up flows so the turbo's will spool a little faster.

Am considering Miltec (if they answer my email enquiry) or perhaps Vishnu (if they have a sedan version I can import) at this stage but don't have much info as yet. Main consideration to keep it legal & obtain a performance improvement.

Thanks in advance,

S

Remus or Miltek. The Miltek drones though on the E46 M3, it may carry over a bit on the 335. Not sure though.

Remus can be had for about $1700 from Bavariacars at Gladesville, not sure who does distribution for Miltek. Both are great systems and you wouldn't go wrong with either.

The Australian distributor for Remus is Motoline Products in Victoria (03) 9756 3777. I bought my quads direct from them at better than retail.

Thanks.

Remus and Miltek are not available for the sedan, just the coupe.

So looks like it might me Eisenmann, just depends if I import direct then have them fitted or pay someone local to import for me. I doubt it will be the latter.

TCCA will import them and fit them or you import and they will fit?

About time that there was some sort of aftermarket accessory that will fit the coupe and not the sedan. It is usually the other way around

Oooocchh! That hurt

New roof and various other bits arrived from Germany this week. She's booked in next week for the roof repair and as they also have to repaint both sides of the car (thats another story) I'm gonna get them to flare out the rear guards. Can't quite get the new rubber to fit in there with the drop on the kws so a little adjustment of the panels and she'll be sweet. Should see her home late next week or early the week after.

Gotta say, my dealer is very very humble about the whole thing. I've done almost 5000k's on the loaner. They invited me to the Facination track day this weekend at Eastern Creek so at least they are trying to make up for the mistake. Can't wait to give those cars some stick.

Now I just gotta convince the dealer principal that I deserve an invite for the track days being organised to promote the new M3.

Decisions???

Hi,

Okay, thought I would ask peoples opinion.

More or less my only option for a 'bolt on' exhaust for the 335 sedan is an Eisenhaus. Keeping in mind my objectives are;

a) Improved breathing for the motor & therefore HP gain
b) Improved sound without being 'boy racer'
c) Keeping it legal (emissions as well as noise)

There are 2 flavours to play with;

Sport - designed to improve performance, give improved sound while working with the existing stock sound proofing.

Race - more agressive than sport

Both of the above are 'muffler only' replacements and leave all the other exhaust items stock (downpipes, post cats and resonator).

There is an optional 'centre pipe' that replaces the stock items from the muffler to the down pipes. This obviously results in the removal of the resonator and the post cats.

So the quandry is weather I go for the muffler only or the whole hog and do the centre pipe as well. If I did the latter then I would probably want to put in some high flow cats or maybe just replace from the post cats to the mufflers with new pipe (only deleting the resonator).

Alternativly I could always install the mufflers & then delete the resonator via a 'weld' thus keeping the post cats and saving the extra freight from OS on the exhaust parts.

So thoughts???

Thanks,

S

From what I've read around the forums - the race is too bloody loud! Many guys in the US are removing them. Can't talk at 2000 rpm and drone is terrible. As far as the sport version goes - Meisterchaft (or something like that) - I don't think anyone has been able to buy one yet. I'd search the forums carefully before you decide. There gonna cost $A2000 plus so you'd want to make a choice you can live with.

Thanks for the input.

Unfortunatly a lot of the info is from Coupe's and they don't have the resonator to start with. None of the suppliers or various forums seam to have any recordings of sound within the cabin of the car which IMHO is more important than the exterior sound.

One of the design aspects of the Eisenhaus I like is the mufflers are similar shape to the stock ones. I like this as it fills the gaps and does not leave a massive void under the car, IMHO BMW spent a lot of $ making the underside of the car as flat as possible I assume to give better airflow & therefore improved handling.

From the supplier;

Sport = most tame, least noise
Race = slighty better, more noise
Meisterchaft = raw, lots of noise

If I do the muffler only then the resonator will still be in place and therefore (I hope) the drone will be contained.

If I do the full cat back then I think it will be too noisy inside & out. Plus I like the idea of keeping the cats (not a tree hugger but cold weather is better for the turbo's)

Current thinking is I will get the race muffler (approx $1300 USD) and see how that goes. If it is too quiet then I will delete the resonator and see how that goes, at least if it's too noisy then I can re-install (it will have several welds but I can live with that).

If the race is too noisy with the resonator in place then I will just have to revert to stock or live with it. Lucky I ordered logic 7 with the car

i would say go for the race

because, i tihnk the e9x can handle a very agressive sound and look

but only go for the race if you are planning to go for a more hardcore look/feel/sound, but go for the sport if you want subtle

Astra,

Have ordered the race with 102mm tips so it will really fill up the rear skirt nicely. Should sound great and I can always remove the resonator for more noise if it's needed. Shipping via Fedex so assuming it leaves the US this week I should have it installed next week.

Next mod will be an LSD, am seeing the people that installed Captn's one week after next. They are going to pull my centre to see if I have the welded crown or not. If I do then they will probably have to make some custom bits so I can still drop in the Quaife. Otherwise it will be a straight drop in like the Captn's & a shorter lead time.
