Got my CYBA tips welded on today
When i first got these tips i thought it would be a really simple, quick and easy job to weld them on. But because the tip diameter and the exhaust pipe are exactly the same diameter, a normal MIG welder would not do. So anyone looking to get these, or similar sized tips welded on, make sure the outfit you go to has a TIG welder, and not a MIG welder. Also check if they use stainless steel weld, which does not rust. You can get it done with a MIG welder but its not as good of a weld and would look like "pigeon shit weld", as my mate likes to call it.
So i went to Northampton Motorsports to get this done. Obviously as their name states, they are very into their tracking and racing and do all sorts. Around 80% of the cars in the garage were Caterhams and track cars. This is one car that owner showed me today, an Ultima. I was truly in awe: I'll be impressed if anyone can hazard a guess as to what bhp this car produces. Feel free to have a guess. Anyways back to my car. Original tips were cut and the new ones welded on. Here are the pics: Perhaps i should have got some close up pics side on? |

Cheers! I have seen some stick out and some completely flush. This is kind of in the middle, hard to see in the pics. I'll take some close ups tomorrow Thanks. Paid $125 shipped plus £16 customs from a forum member called CYBA, have a look at some of his threads. He really is the man for quality tips. |

Thanks. Yeah they do look very shiny and hopefully i can keep them in the same condition! My original plan with this car was to blacken the kidney grilles, bumper grills, window trim and the 335 badge. With this silver addition i might need to have a think on what i should blacken out. The suspension is next on my list, which will definitely include a drop! Ok so no one was impressed by the Ultima? Just me? Runs 840bhp and 800+ lb ft!!!! |
