First JB4 Logging, Fast!

I just bought the car less than a month, and I have installed the JB4 to unleash the beast! I'm just running Map 1 with 91 gas, but it's already a different car. I'm a noob when comes to data logging and tuning, although I have used Apex AFC to tune my DSM. Here is my first log, is there something that I should be concerned about?

I could only drive up to 80mph so it's not all the way to 6500rpm, but hope it's fine.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you have timing drops which means the knock sensors are detecting suspicious cylinder activity. Without installing additional hardware the correct countermeasure would be to reduce timing advance in that area, but since you can't do it with JB4 your options are to reduce boost in that area or to run higher octane fuel (93).

You can cut back timing with the JB4 through the CPS module....

throw a few gallons of E85 with your 91oct and that should correct your timing issue.

The ign adv on the graph really looks bad and gets pulled throughout the log. What should it look like in a normal log? I thought map 1 was for stock car with 91 gas, shouldn't it run a little smoother than what I logged?

I will try e85 soon, but just want to get the baseline log first and make sure it runs ok before throwing in e85. Good tip though!

you should use map 5 instead of 1 and maybe limit boost to 12 psi.

I doubt you can run stock timing and 13psi with 91... you can add supporting mods which help but you still won't run stock timing (at least not consistently)...
Map 5 is a good idea. e85 is another good one.

An intercooler would definitely be a good addition as well.

5-6 degrees looks about right for 91 octane @ 13psi on an otherwise stock car at lower RPM. The 10 degrees is just during spool up.

OP I can't tell from the chart but if you don't have ISO firmware yet definitely switch to that. It's all around better than the integrated production firmware they ship with.

I probably won't go FBO as I just got an extended warranty so will just install upgrades that are easily reversible, so no dp or intercooler.

But will definitely go E85 as soon as it runs fine on Map 1 so I can rule out other variables if the car has issues with E85.

Mike, I have the G4 board with the latest 082112 firmware, I thought it should be sufficient for my mods as I will only get tune, dci, and E85.

It's good. But the G5 ISO is just that much better.

I'll keep that in mind you don't do g4 to g5 board exchange, do you?

They don't, but the G5 board itself is only $150. Then you can always sell the G4 board to someone with an old JB3 who wants a small upgrade.

I think that's what I'm going to do, as I only heard good things about the G5.

So I installed the DCI, and changed to Map 5 and ran for 2 days before logging again. I did a few 3rd gear WOT for the Map 5 adaption, but the logs looked much worse than I was on Map 1

Another log. Why the timing dip so much on Map 5 with dci?

you need E85 or meth...I am sure you will go E85 because of warranty. Send the logs to Terry also. Start with 35-40% of E85.

Yes I will try that, but I just want to make sure Map 5 should run fine on gas 91 even though Map 1 does not.

I already read people having problem with Map 5 changed to other map and then back to Map 5 again, seemed to solve their problems. I will try that and log again, thanks.
