G37 Keeping up with tuned 335??

Whats up guys...
Recently just picked up my 4th e92(All Tuned)..
2011 335 xdrive 6AT
Car is tuned with Jb4 on map 5...Bmw performance exhaust...ER chargepipe...
This car definitely feels sluggish!!!
All my other n54's would walk past a g37 with no issue at all.
A buddy of mine has a 08 g37s with Injen Intake.
I find it realllly weird that he was able to keep up with me side by side straight to 120+ (somewhere in Mexico)
I am going to guess that I have a boost leak somewhere...any ideas??

Also...the car makes a weird sound at idle and when you rev it to about 2k rpm...a squeeling sound...

something is definitely wrong with your car. How many miles on the car? when did you last change the spark plugs? You might have a boost leak. I have the same car as you with jb4, fmic, Alpina tcu flash, and a drop in filter. I also had a G37S a few years ago so I have been on both sides of the fence. A G37 should not be keeping up you.

I thought the last year for N54 was 2010? Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you have an N55? I also see that your car is an xdrive, so that maybe another factor.

But even then he shouldn't be keeping up with you side by side. I would try shifting at 6200 rpm to stay in the power band and see if that helps. Good luck.

xDrive saps a LOT of power, you should also turn the boost-gauge overlay on to make sure you're hitting proper boost levels

Common for n55's to have cracked charge pipes resulting in boost leak.
Check that first and if so get a nice aftermarket one.

I have x drive, jb4 map 7 ISO with e85. Used to feel slow on map 5 but map 7 and traction turned off and the car feels great.

I as well have an xDrive with jb4 and downpipe only running on map 2. Half as much done to my car as what some of these others have and I have beaten multiple G37s off the line and from a roll.. Just because it's all wheel drive doesn't mean anything. Look at all of these other performance cars that come in awd from an Evo-STI. You definitely have a boost leak and like the guy above said your charge pipe may be the cause but you can get a sick deal on an aftermarket charge pipe

To clarify...When i said all my other n54's meaning all the cars I had prior to this. This is a n55 I have now. I do have a ER charge pipe... Can someone help me out with posting the video...Maybe that can point me in the right direction...
I knew something had to be wrong....335i loaners feel stronger than my car... It just hit 14,000 miles...

+1 Xdrive shouldn't matter against a G37.

I hear that xdrive (or any 4 wheel drive) after a certain speed, RWD tend to pull on AWD. I don't know why I'm guessing because it's harder for the engine to spin all 4 wheels instead of just the back 2. I had a drag with my friend (on a track) 330i vs 330xi..after like 80 he started to pull on me. I was confused so I looked it up and a lot of people were saying the same.

Check out what the guys on the evo forum have to say:
http://forums.evolutionm.net/evom-ne...wd-vs-awd.html

"i read a car magazine a while ago, it said rwd, you get slower start but you gain power as you start driving. fwd, better start but you lose power as the car starts moving. it has to do with physics, it also mentioned AWD. if you want i can get the magazine name"

"If both cars were same, rwd would have less drivetrain overhead = less mechanical parts in game = less friction and that's why you usually have more use of it at top end when everything needs to spin faster."

Hope that helps but I'm not sure how the race went, you should have blew him out in the beginning.

A G37 is not keeping up with a tuned 335i xdrive or not. Something is wrong with his car. On another note, I had two rwd 335i before my xdrive. The extra traction when tuned is very helpful.

The G37 is not a bad car, but the tuned 335i regardless xi or not should walk the 37 with ease.

going to post that video?

what phone do you have?

you can download the video several ways. one way would be to take the video file from your phone after downloading it on to the computer.
use various media based websites such as photobucket or youtube in order to upload the video.
That's basically it. the website allows you to directly browse for the desired file and upload the video on to the site so that you can eventually post the link on this thread, or use an html code to directly embed the video on a post.
sorry if im being super vague, but its really easy. its no more difficult than uploading a word.doc file from an email on to your computer.

Don't underestimate the g37 especially the sedans... they are lighter and faster than the coupe. G37x sedan vs my cobb stage 1 335xi on a highway roll, he kept up pretty well until about 130mph. Both were automatic. They are powerfull and have a good top end.
