$7 Dollar Grill

Say what you want about doing it right and paying $60-$150 or whatever for grills. I paid about $7 and I LOVE the way they came out

Redundant thread title is redundant.

Grills look good, that's the route I took!

I bought about $7 worth of CF vinyl and wrapped my grilles, don't have good pics at the moment but they look very, very good.

I hear you WillyFbaby! That's why I try never to talk about or put pix up of my car. My mother always say "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything". These guys don't go by that rule. Anyway, I did the same thing to mine..

Looks nice man, I am new to this forum and want to do this.

I didn't want to search through old posts to see it done, if that was going to be my interaction with the forum I wouldn't have bothered signing up. I would have viewed from a distance. I am starting to think I should take that route

Go on Ebay.

Black Kidney grilles are like $40 shipped.

The OP did a brave thing, but plasti-dip doesnt last as long as we all hope for it to.

I've seen them on eBay but a lot of people have commented on aftermarket not being as good a fit as OEM.

On an old 1998 Vauxhall Astra I bought a £20 aftermarket grill as it looked better and fit perfect, but now I drive a newish Beemer the bar seems to be set higher otherwise why do people spend double on the BMW Performance when there is no noticeable difference to the eye?

i plastidipped my front grilles 2yrs ago. no chips at all. no fade at all.

that said, i cant stand how people think plastidip is amazing and want to plastidip everything. for some trim detail (actually just the grille) it's okay cuz it's so minor. but whole cars? STOCK wheels?! fucking lame.

See, now I have to ask.

What prep work did you do?

My Buddy did it to his kidneys and those fuckers started chipping instantly.

He cleaned the shit out of them, then sprayed....

Been over 14 months and mine haven't chipped at all either. Sanded, primer, and 3 coats of PD.

I couldn't agree more with you on that. A youngen down the street from me has a gorgeous black convertible M3, Nicest sounding exhaust, wheels. It's a head turner. Last time I saw him go by, the fucking thing was all dull from dipping the whole car! Looked like pure shit to me

Never sand or primed mine, just popped it out, washed and sprayed. Four coats and its been two years, still nice and new just like the first day. No chips.

If you don't compliment on you own pictures, no one will! But seriously, the horizon is not level in the 4th and 6th pictures. The latter also suffers from some sort of purple fringing.

P.S. Apparently Blue Bonnet Spread is only $0.87 in Food City! Too bad your bonnet is black.
