E92 Sport 18 wheel, rear going from 255/35/18 to 255/40/18

I am thinking of purchasing the Vredestein Vorti tire, which only seems to be available in US, in rear 255/40/18. My question to tire experts is, apart from 1 inch increase in tire profile am I going to run into any other issues like rubbing, handling difference etc?

New setup would be

225/40/18
255/40/18

Please share your feedback.

Well I'm no "tire expert" but I'll chime in anyway FWIW

Calculator says those sizes are out by 3.63% (0.94 inches) in overall size. My understanding is that 3% is a normal "Safe" maximum target for non-AWD different sized (staggered) tire sets for suspension issues. As it is on the rear wheels, I don't believe it will affect your speedo. Not being any sort of expert (with sincerity), I don't know how to compensate for the >3% size diff, although I'm sure there must be a way...

255/35/18 would be a more suitable match for 225/40/18, which is 0.236%

Note: Your subject says 255... to 255... but the body of the post says 225... to 255. I'm guessing you mean you are already on 255/35/18 in the rear. Either way, the final 225/40 + 255/40 setup isn't optimal.

Garage List
If you want a larger rear tire I would suggest going with a 265/35-18 if they have that available. I think that the 255/40-18 is just too large.

Thank you for the feedback guys. I will stay OEM specs as you recommended.
For 265/35/18, would the tire fit on existing sports package wheel on 08 E92? if so maybe its worth the upgrade.
