check engine light w/jb4

So last saturday my check engine light came on and the car had no power and felt like it was sputtering and then 2 mins later it went away and never showed any signs of anything going bad after that. Yest i was driving through a toll booth and gunned it with paddle shifters had perfect shifts but had to make a hard stop due to on coming traffic and it went into a limp mode pulled over turned the car on and off and everything went away and its been driving ever since then. Its really wierd and i dont know if it has anything to do with the tune and if i should contact bmw to check it out while its under warranty i just dont want to take the tune out if its not going to turn out to be anything. PLEASE HELP

Sounds like a classic misfire. Check the codes to be sure.

First things first, check the codes. Chances are small that the codes are caused by your piggyback tuner. In fairness to Terry, maybe you could change the title of your thread until you know what the cause is.

Try to reset the unit to all defaults & start over. File pull down "restore defaults"

It was a misfire. The CEL will clear itself but the code is still there.

Do you know how to check the codes using the JB4? The JB4 might still read out a code even if the light is no longer on...

Use this link to read the codes.

Use this one to diagnose the problem once you figure out the code

It was a misfire and your car corrected itself after driving a bit. It has happened to me so many times.

It means your plugs/coils are starting to go. I replaced all and no longer get the misfires.

Sounds crazy but how were you on gas. if you get to low and you stomp on it you could be running lean and you go into limp mode. and a few minutes later your back to normal. it has happened to me once or twice.
