New brake pads showing 8k left?

Hi guys, bit of help required please. Just had the front pads on my car replaced with genuine bmw parts including sensor. I've got the car back and it now says 8k left before they need doing again, surely thats wrong. My mechanic didnt even reset the cbs monitor because he doesnt know how, its just done it itself - i did it for the rears myself and was fine.

Ive gone through the cycle of reseting the cbs for the brakes again but no joy, any ideas?

Ignore this, just read up and i wasn't doing the reset properly, its now showing 50k

It's not accurate anyway. Mine were saying 1000 miles and that was about 6 months ago! It now says 800 miles
