Glad you are ok. Did the stability control not kick in at all? Or were the conditions so bad it could not help at that point? That # looks just below what it is actually worth but not low enough to seek outside quotes. I personally would take the offer.

Honestly...I can't really remember. I was so shocked right at the impact that I was unable to really think clearly and piece everything together. It hit both a telephone pole and then the huge boulder did a ton of damage on top of it. The pole cracked in half and was laying in the middle of the street. I know the part of the road where I slipped my DSC usually does kick in almost regularly when driving on these tires. Now that I'm ok it's more embarrassing than anything.

Eeeekkk glad your ok, looks like a ton of damage.
Personally the 25k isn't bad at all. Paid less for my car privately with less miles than that and a ton of mods so I see the value as pretty fair.

Just like a car dealer, you never take the first offer. Any out of pocket money you put into the car?
Remember they owe you sales tax also for the state it is registered in Lastly, search online for 5-10 comparable miles and models in a reasonable distance from you. If you can not replace your car with the same or better for their offer, they owe you more. As knowledge, use NADA.com and also KBB.com to compile all the figures you can come up with |

I might try calling the adjuster and seeing if hr can increase it by a thousand but I don't think independent appraisals are worth the effort at this point since the offer was reasonable

Never hurts to ask ask for more, I would reject the first offer and see what the second offer is. Just gotta learn to say "No"... it's not like they won't pay you for saying No :P hehehe. Just keep telling them it's too low and come up with a higher number which they will bargain down from.
FWIW - Glad you are okay and in a good place so you can bargain with the insurance folks (just remember the damage is already done to your insurance rates too... so you will be paying for it for a while. So get all that you can now. |

damn...the car looks totaled.
glad you are ok, thats priceless. you already got good advice on $$s from insurance. There is a saying, "a mother doesnt feed her baby until the baby cries", so no harm in trying some negotiation. |

You were pretty lucky where you hit that pole. Imagine if your car was just a few inches back. I don't think your shoulder/arm will be happy with you, lol.
