JB4 G5 Firmware Update Question -"Loading Hex" PLEASE HELP!

Hey I know a few of you were helping me with JB questions so I thought I would reach out again with another important matter briefly described above. I have searched this on a few different BMW/N54 forums but only found bits and pieces that mostly referred/diverted the question to reaching out the BMS/Terry Directly. I have been working with Terry as you will see below but I am going to log both questions/issues I am having and the outcome to my trial and error.

JB Description: JB G5 and it has those 2 metal things on the board that I believe prevents the use of IOS. (not sure about the 100%, Please Confirm)

Before my install last night I wanted to make sure the firmware was up to date with the latest HEX file i downloaded off of N54 tuning. So before I even started taking the cowel apart I downloaded the software and followed the directions (install application and JB Drives) to plug the JB and connect it to update the firmware.

When I selected the COM under settings (located in device manager) I select 4 and it reads "COM 4 failed" Next I go to do the update; and receive a warning/fail message to either quit, which closes the application, or continue which force it to start. The update soon after stays stuck in the "loading HEX" stage as it reads in the status bar. After about 10 mins or so i decided that the firmware failed and is now corrupted so i select "disaster recovery firmware" then select restore to default settings.

So my problem is that this happens every time same thing over and over. Is this because;

A: My JB4 G5 is not an ISO because the 2 clips are on the board and in the settings mode I have selected the "G5 ISO)"?

B: I am trying to update when the JB is not installed and connected to the car?

Also my concerns:

A: I messed up the JB firmware and should not use it with the car until it is fixed because it will damage the car.

B: I will not be able to use my new toy

Can anyone help me with this or share if you had the same problem and how Terry or BMS helped you fix it? I tryed asking Terry and he was pretty short, Although it was Saturday night, so Ill cut him some slack . He wants me to just install it and see what happens but I am concerned this $500 device could potentially Fack up my $57,000 machine and true love.

I am going to also see if Terry can provide furthure support which I am sure he will come Monday morning. Thank you all in advance!

-p.s. Please feel free to respond below as I am sure someone else will need this at some piont and there is no search on this topic

You can't update the JB unless it is installed on your car. Once you do install it, just put your key in, and press start button once with your foot off the clutch, or brake depending on your transmission. Then select appropriate ROM and update firmware.

now if the diodes are "uncut" that means you will run integrated boost control and not ISO (isolated). It also means you need to download the firmware for integrated and not ISO.
select appropriate menu and update firmware and you're good to go.

If you want to run ISO just cut one side of the diodes off and slightly lift to make sure it is not touching. thenfollow the same instructions above, just for ISO this time. Also I said cut on side just in case you don;t like ISO and want to go back to integrated...

Can you direct me to where this NON ISO firmware is located? Also your saying that because this attempt to update the firmware was not connected to the car in the first place, that I did no damage???

If its out of the car cut the diodes and update it to the ISO firmware when you install it. Easy.

Ok so I think I am forced to go ISO because my JB4 interface does not give and option for G5 intergrated...Only G5 ISO? Thought?

There is no default setting option for G5 integrated. Cut the diodes and load G5 ISO.

What i mean is: why is there talk that one would be able to have a G5 with the connections to run integrated and firmware to run integrated but not have the option to select it in the JB4 application?

Oh, like enrita said I think it is the same as G4 integrated from an application standpoint.
