Updated software for 2006-2008 models with turbos?
I read that bmw came out with a software update for the turbos for models that were made from 2006-2008 to eliminate turbo problems. Can anyone expand upon this? I have a 2007 335i, how would I know if I have the current software?

not to eliminate problems. basically they tried to fix the wgrattle by letting the wgs more open but that created lag. the newest software is very good imho.

BT tool, COBB AP, or go at the dealership and ask. That's all I could think about

It will increase your chances of getting wastegate rattle

I really doubt you are on the old software... your car must have went to the dealership for regular work under warranty and they would have probably updated the software

I know the owner before me took it to the dealer every 5k miles on the dot for service, so it was taken to the dealer regularly. I just called the dealer and left a message for them to get back to me so I will ask them if they updated the software.
Is the wastegate rattle the same thing as the turbos going bad? What is the deal with the wastegate rattle? |

many things can make the turbos go bad... wastegate rattle for many is just annoyance but it can get to a point where it starts throwing underboost codes. Turbos can go bad because of seals wearing out. you would start burning oil etc...
