I might be trippin but...is this a problem?
I got into a little accident a while back and my rear bumper has a small little dent on the left-hand side. I've had a few people solicit me in the middle of gas stations before, offering to fix my bumper on the spot for a small fee. Obviously, I declined.
Lately, however, I noticed an increase in frequency of these occurrences. At the end of last week, I found a really gaudy looking business card offering cheap repair services stuck on my window. Just yesterday morning, a truck was parked in front of my house and someone kept spamming my doorbell and knocking on my door for a good ten minutes. I was sleeping and I was hoping they would go away, but the hammering and ringing didn't stop until I finally opened the door. The guy offered to fix my car and was rather persistent and eventually offered to fix everything for 200 flat. I don't know anyone that has actually taken up these repair services before, and frankly I'm pretty worried now that these people are now bothering me in my own home about it. I didn't think too much into it before, but before I left the house today, I noticed a large piece of cardboard was planted beneath my car and it wasnt there when I parked into the driveway before. Am I just being paranoid? Anyone else have any similar experiences? |

Definitely not being paranoid, that is pretty whack.

It is visible damage, but I have never heard of them coming by home either. I'm really hoping it was just a mere coincidence that they came by, but I guess it won't hurt to plant a bunch of landmines around my house and car too!

My coworker got taken for $500 in Newport Beach and they did it in his garage. After they pulled the dent and messed up the paint they smoothed some bluish clay thing on the car and they tell you leave it over night then wash it off. By then they are gone with your money. As soon as the carwash guy saw my coworker’s Mercedes pull up he was was already shaking his head. He has seen this happen to more than a dozen cars.

knocking incessantly and cardboard under the car is over stepping boundaries! get one of those "No soliciting, Violators will be shot" signs...it works for me!

although i find it annoying when guys come up to me trying to sell their service/products at gas stations, i just politely refuse as i know they're just tryin to hustle and make a buck.
but to come to the front door and not stop ringing/knocking?? fuck that. im answering the door with my piece. thats not hustling. thats just straight rude.

Last time those guys came up to me, I had them clean all 4 wheels as part of their demo (with about 6 months of brake dust). After that the $15 was more worth it. I was still tempted to not buy any, but that would have been pretty messed up.

My buddy and I were out to eat leaving a parking lot and some guy pulled up and said he can fix the small baseball size hit on the side of his car. I advised my buddy dont do it but the price was only 40$ or something small and he decided to do it. He popped as much out as he could, then he covered it all in wax and said wait about 30mins to wipe all this off and everything should look fine. I said dont pay him until you wipe it off but my friend just paid him and the guy left. As soon as he left I wiped off the wax and the damage was still there. Moral of the story never trust those guys.
