Cobb AP maps question

So if I'm all stock (and want to stay stock) I'm limited to just Drive or Sport Stage 1? As I scroll down, Drive or Sport Stage 2+FMIC still only requires 91 octane, but says it is "required" to have supporting mods.
My car is a daily driver. 70% of the time I'm driving the speed limit. I think you get where I'm going here, basically I want to see how aggressive of a map I'm able to run on 91 octane staying all stock. Is everyone on here with a stock 335i really sticking with only the Stage 1?

Stage 1, 1+, 2, 2+ require different modification.

drive, sport, agg is how aggressive the map is within a specific stage.

Since you have no mods, COBB recommends you stick with stage1. Depending on your octane and needs you can choose one of the three flavors: drive/sport/aggressive.

if you have 93, you can run aggressive. Of course you still have to log to make sure all is good.

With 91, you are lmited to either drive or sport. Try them and log and then you'll know which to run.

with that said, you can always throw in some E85 to increase the effective octane and run the aggressive map

thank you. so basically if i'm stock on 91 octane, then like you said i really am limited to stage 1 sport or drive. say even if i were to fill up my tank with 93 octane, that still leaves me limited to a Stage 1, aggressive.

yeah i just don't know if it's worth it to me to spend the money on this AP for my particular application. if i wanted to mod the car (downpipes, fmic, intake, exhaust, etc..) then i'd feel like i'm making good use of the AP.

i appreciate the help.

Bold is correct.

It's worth it even on a stock car. You will notice a nice bump in power for sure.

even going only stage 1 is a huge difference from stock.

As others said, even with just stage 1 its a night and day difference from stock and absolutely worth it.

I think it's still worth it. for 650$ (used) or 700 something new, you get a decent bump in performance with the capability of going higher at any point. Believe you will want to mod more.

Another thing, if you put in E30 or E40, then you can run higher power maps with piece of mind.

The car on my sig is my old car, I actually bought an E92 and it is still stock hardware wise. I'm already making more power than stage 2+ agg with E40 (my map)

food for thought

what's the typical power increase for stage 1 sport?

i do not have any access to e85 or anything like that. i do have access to 100 unleaded. few gallons of that mixed in with my 91 sounds like i'd have alot of fun on the stage 1 aggressive.

marv, is E30 and E40 a west coast product? I've only seen E85 out here.

He's referring to the mix of 91/93 and E85 to create E30+ fuel.

I see. thanks. sorry this is probably covered somewhere on here, but is the ethanol content inherent in pump gas part of the calcuation?

Yes it is. You must account for the 10% ethanol content in pump when calculating your ethanol amount. Also, due to variences in E85 blends, I'd reccomend calculating out around E35 to be on the safe side with COBB.

With stage 1 aggressive I gained 53hp over stock (cobb map 0) on a dyno dynamics dyno - apparently they are heartbreak dynos. and a whopping 97ft/lbs tq. I was running 94 octane.

There is a big difference.

I also have a dci (was on for stock and stage 1 agg. runs), but that doesn't really buy you much on a stock car.

check the cobb dyno database for details.

however, I can tell you than it is a decent bump in performance. Open them in ATR and you can see than boost is increased so is timing.

Yeah not too many E85 stations close, but there are some. Not to be a downer, but sorry bud, ACN 91 isn't the same as 91. We got the worst, S1 Sport is pushing the comfort of happy car with ACN 91, but possible, log to be sure. I had to run 3 gallons (20%) of E85 pump to run Sport, but I ended up running Aggressive anyway.

Propel E85 Stations

Here is a rough perspective on numbers from Virtual Dyno Results will very.
