Since when have we been in danger of running out of water?

I would think with all the Global-Warming effect's we have seen the past few years, water is more then plentiful. (Wicked storms, polar caps melting, etc..)

Tho we do consume water, it is all a cycle the gets recirculated in one form or another.

I remember doing a case study back in school comparing the water on earth when dinosaurs still roamed compared to modern day. If i remember correctly not much has changed, if anything because of Global-Warming there might be a fraction more today.

Of course, if the huge oil giants dont find a way to make just as much profit as they do with oil, you can file this in the rest of the stuff that would work but not enough money backing the idea for a real change. (ethanol, natural gas, propane, hydrogen, biodiesel, electricity, methanol, and p-series fuels)

I am surprised this information got this far into media outlets. Within weeks the patent will be bought by an oil company and filed away in a vault like the many before it. We can send autonomous robots to mars, manipulate atoms & create chips that can fit on the head of a needle, yet the combustion engine has barely changed in a century...

Wait there was another guy who got a paten in Feb 06 that converts H2O to HH & O and burns it to be used a torch, and he wants to put in an engine too

But the problem with this is it requires lots of electricity to convert H20 to HH O.

I am not sure other the other guys is doing with saltwater what is different than this guy

If your remember your high school chemistry you will remember that when pure sodium comes in contact with water it would reacts violently so that is what you are seeing there.

Again you have to ask how much electricity he is using to convert the water.

I think Fresh water is a nonrenewable resource. We'll always have water but... but getting those desalinators or whatever they're called to run and filter out the salt in salt water is pretty expensive.

didn't watch the vid but the high school chemistry reaction of Na+H2O is just a redox equation producing H2 gas and NaOH... i highly doubt doing that would produce enough energy.

reason why we are so oil dependent is because it is one of the more efficient energy resources... gotta remember than it takes energy to make energy...

Sadly, I think this person or some of his family members will disappear before this invention gets anywhere.

Can you imagine the amount of oil money involved? Do you think the folks who have a stake of oil money will let this happen?

You probably right, but Na + H20 is a very violent reaction and it self ignites too. and if you confine the H2 in the present of the energy being release by the NaOH reaction the H2 will explode with a little O2 present. But this process is exothermic <--- I think that is correct term, so it very hard to control and does not make a stable process plus getting pure Na is not easy.

Actually burn oil/gas is the lease efficient, 80 or 90% is wasted as heat when use in a car.

I do not believe this guys process are any better once you look at how much energy is need to initiate the process.
