Shiv, why haven't I ever gotten a call back, or a PM regarding downpipe maps for my car? I've contacted you guys in different ways numerous times.

I guess since it's already been done then I would assume that the maps would be available for everybody then? I guess I should place an order for the V2 then huh?

The 135 with same amount of fuel is only about 70 pounds lighter. The exhaust system is different however, so you never know how much of a gain a custom exhaust will give the 135i. It might be more restrictive due to space and therefore not put out the same power as a 335i with custom exhaust. It may also not have as much room for larger/better FMIC. Even though BMW lists the 135i, 335i, and 535i as having the same power output, I'm sure they vary a bit. The engine is underrated at 300 hp and 300 lbs-ft of torque so that gives BMW the ability to rate all the same power output, even if, in fact they are not. It has been shown by Shiv and possibly others that the 535i is making about 3-5 hp less on a dyno than the 335i. My guess is that would be because of a more restrictive exhaust. The 135i could also possibly have a more restrictive exhaust since it doesn't have a true dual exhaust all the way back. But rather joins into one muffler. So it also might truly have 3-5 hp less from the get go. Also keep in mind the 135i is less aerodynamic than the 335i. (.34 co drag vs. .30 for the 335i) That also plays a factor as speeds climb. This is shown in BMW's own "testing" which may be more marketing hype than anything. They say the 135i is .2 seconds faster to 100 kph (62.1 mph) but to 200 kph (124 mph) it's only .1 seconds faster. The 335i is actually beginning to gain then, that's the 335i's superior aerodynamics at work. Out of the gate speeds for the 135i will also depend on wheels/tires. if it can't fit as wide of wheels/tires as the 335i it will be at a big disadvantage there too. If it can fit 9.5 or 10 inch wide wheels and 265 or 275 series tires, then it will be on equal ground in that arena as the 335i. Again, I have a feeling the 135i won't be any faster than the 335i on average, especially well into the triple digit speeds, where it might actually be a tick slower. |

Not to mention the 135 is ugly.

Everyone keeps making like the difference in weight between the 335i and 135i is like the difference between an H2 Hummer and a Lotus Elise, but 100lbs really isn't much. Of course there will be other variables that we will have to wait and see. I wonder what type of gearing the car will have in addition to some of the points that Driver72 made in reference to wheel/tire limitations that may or may not be there. I guess we will find out soon enough. In any case, its a cool car, but for the compromise that needs to be made with the styling I think that the car better shed some more lbs and really step up in the handling department before it debuts.
