e90 front doors speakers

Please advise me what I choose to change original front BMW speakers with something better (i have idrive) + I don't want to install additional amplifier:

options:

1. Audio system CO100 BMW (COAX)
2. Gladen CO100 BMW (COAX)
4. Audio design QM100 BMW (http://www.audiodesign.de/products/h...t/qm_bmwss.htm)

or any other speakers. I don't have tweeters in my car...

thanks

You should read this first

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641323

There is a speaker section in it .

If you have a the ampless system changing the speaker can reduce your volume and make things worse. (The speakers the factory put in are designed to work off head unit power , very little head unit power.)
It can also do the same for the other systems.
You need to study the above thread before you do anything.
Its easy enough to buy the tweeter pod holders and a component set to
the front doors once you have the proper equalization and amplification.

Don't bother unless your going to do it right. You have the base system.

You need a cleansweep to flatten out the eq or you need to recode. If you aren't willing to add an amp switching out the speakers is a waste of time.

Those speakers seem new to me

Those speakers seem new to me.
And it looks like they have the right hole pattern to not require
adapters. So that's interesting.

Well that's not true, original stereo speakers are (I think from Philips) which are cheap speakers.

If you add COAXIAL speakers instead of these, you get louder and more clean sound, with COAX option you also get "full range speakers" so speaker+tweeter which is perfect for beginning ! I don't want to spend 500€ for sound system!

Its kind of a unknown brand in the states

Its kind of a unknown brand in the states
Actually kind of true of all of the brands you suggested.
Only mentioned occasionally here.
Most on this board have gone on the add amp route hardly
any have added speakers alone.

There is a Euro sub board here where a lot of the English modders
have posted there stuff.

Mb Quart, Focal, Jehnert and Morel seem to be the speakers that come up here the most.

I didn't say the stocks weren't cheap .
If you get better speakers they tend to require more power
as the voice coils are bigger as well as the magnets.

Aha, OK I understand. As I see they get a lot of awards in europe:
http://www.gladen.com/

and other "World Champion" awards so they are not "NO-NAME" brand also is german quality.

Can you maybe suggest me any other USA well known brand which is similar solution for me ?

There are so few speaker that fit the doors.

There are so few speaker that fit the doors.(or the floors)
Not many make 4 inch speakers.
And most of them are not inexpensive and need serious power.
There is a list in that link I gave you.

Gladen and first one seems to be made by same company.
I have not heard them but I read the feedback that their tweeters are not excellent.
Mids are spot on.
Re: MB quartz, one of my friend has installed those and he speaks very high of them.
As others said, whichever route / speakers you go for, expect aroun 10-20% difference and that is due to the tweeter only.
Also consider vibe slick co-axials as well as they are cheap and not bad if you are not amplifying them.

Yes, I also already checked this list. Most from list "4" component systems (front doors):" speakers are discontinued or. they not fit to original holes, so you need to make additional adaptor, which is not good alternative for me. Also most of this KIT's are together with additional tweeters (for which I don't have space in my doors, if I need to install it into my car I need to buy additional plastic housing for it...) and last but not least they are just normal speakers, so they ar not COAX where I get "full range" sound, because of 2ch inside COAX speaker(speaker+tweeter).

I know this is not PRO solution, but if you just want to change original cheap philips speakers in doors I personally think THIS is the best solution for 120$...

or if you have any other suggestion ??

I also saw in other thread mention "gladen CO100 BMW " speakers( you can also see a picture with a lot of KIT boxes: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...4#post13943524), but no one answer to my question and there is also no review...

Or really, I didn't know that?? I heard that Gladen and Audio System were same company than they separated, so I think CO 100 BMW speaker from Glade or Audio System are almost the same...

So if you compare companies Gladen/Audio System (Mosconi) vs MB Quart (model QM100 BMW) which company will you choose ?

Better quality speakers will be less efficient and require more power.

To get enough headroom to have a clean signal going to your speakers you need more power.

The base system has an eq that tries to compensate for the lack of tweeters. Adding coaxials or components will probably just make the higher frequencies sound really harsh.

If you are trying to say coaxials are louder or more efficient than components, that is not true. The only difference is the placement of the tweeter, which in this case components would be a better choice. Actually, the components theoretically would be louder because there is more usable cone area, without the tweeter in the way, but realistically I don't think this matters.

Seriously you should just save your money and while your at it do some research. Then when you have enough to make a worthwhile upgrade you will know what you want to do, and how to do it. I don't know what your budget is, but I think you should take a look at the Musicar level one upgrade.

Ok I agree with you; but you cannot compare 120$ with Musicar system for 3-4k$ ....

The problem is currently that my front right door speaker is damaged so I want to change it and original cost almost the same, as if I buy 2 COAX; and with that I also get better sound!

So my question from beginning is which COAX speakers install insted of original BMW?

Well that makes sense. Just don't spend too much money on them or expect a huge improvement.

Here are a few that I found. You still need mounting rings and wiring adapters.

Get the OEM tweeter pods, mount adapters and OEM connector, set the DA crossovers to -2dB tweeter level and you will be fine.

Yeas these are OK, alpine is very famous brand; but it will not fit to my speakers holes, so I need to buy additional adaptors (and then I also don't know if they fill fit, perhaps they are too deep...)

these COAX (audio system and gladen and MB Quart) are specially designed just for BMW, but they cost almost twice price of others 2ch COAX

What about these, you do not need a mounting ring. You can get the wiring adapters from the dealer.
