Thinking about a 335D
I'm thinking my next car should be a 335D, as I do a lot of highway driving.
I currently have an '06 330i, which I bought with 69K miles, no CPO, no warranty. I replaced my waterpump and a few other things that went wrong, but no major problems. Is buying a 335D from a non-BMW dealer a terrible idea? What kind of warranty is on the car? Anything similar like the 335 HPFP warranty? I know a lot of folks are CPO or die, but in my 330i case, I haven't really had any problems. What are the big things to look out for with the 335Ds? Common (expensive) problems? Here's an example, any thoughts on the price for this thing with 60K miles? |

Cars from 30-40k miles going for 30-35k
Recommend CPO or extend warranty due to DDE/injector/urea system issues. (Seems since its a 1st gen car BMW just throws parts at it while it builds engineering data) Otherwise great car!!! |

My advice, for what its worth, since having the car for 30,000 miles and no problems, my third diesel car after a TDI and a CDI both more than 150,000 miles each, is to get a late 2011 build as I did.
The DDE which controls the EGR circuit was fussed over in successive "upgrades" or voluntary recalls if you will. A faulty DDE seemed to be responsible for several of the major issues with fuel injectors and "carbon buildup" in a few cases. BMW has not replaced, to my knowledge, the late cars' DDE - yet. The engine is not in its first generation, just the pollution control equipment. PL |

I have an '11, only issues were with a/c, they replaced the evaporator, also replaced fuel rail pressure sensor. Bought it brand new and have driven a little over 41K within the past 18 months.

Less than a week ago I bought a ultra clean CPO 09 with only 33K miles and a 100,000 mile warranty for 28K from my local BMW dealer. The active headlights are a little strange but all in all we are very happy with it.

No. The auto on off thing were used to. I was referring to the way the lights move around when the car is started and when you go around a corner. The first time I drove it at nite I thought I was seeing things....lol

Definitely get a CPO 335d. With a total of 6 years or 100k miles warranty, it will give you piece of mind if anything ever goes wrong with it. I got a 2009 335d CPO with 46k miles, had all the fuel injectors replaced as well as all the intake and outtake valves and cylinder head, due to carbon buildup. All covered under warranty.
Don't get me wrong, I love my car. I enjoy driving it and you can't beat the great MPG. |

The only warning sign I got was the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light. The car still drove great and I didn't feel like anything was wrong with it.
I do 90% highway and 10% city driving. |

Damn this thing is still for sale. 2010 335D, 58K miles. Non-BMW lot. $22K
Do only CPO BMW cars get 100K mile warranty? What about 3rd party warranty? |
