335i OEM Brake Pads?
My rear brakes need changing soon on my 335i 2009 car and I have tried to catch a few of the posts on brakes over last 6 months or so.
Its probably got the original rear brake pads on(done 30k miles) and would like to get fitted with the same manufacturer/type of pads(as I really like them). I guess BMW do not make brake pads and have read a few post saying its either Pagid or Textar, but one or two posts seems to suggest that OEM are not these ones? Confused So what type manufacturer of pads would be on my car and if you rang up BMW parts department and asked for a 335i rear brakes any idea whoes make would be selling? Also am I right in thinking the brake sensor needs changing at the same time? And at times with the hand brake on the car rolls on a hill, though sometimes its fine and othertimes it rolls. Had it in to BMW around 6 months ago and said nothing was wrong with it. Does my car have its own separate brake pad for the hand brake system. And is it on the rear wheel of the car? Thanks in advance |

BMW pads come from several possible sources, as do lots of factory parts. I think Jurid or Textar are most likely as they are mass produced cheap pads.
Your car will have whichever parts were in the parts bin when it was built i'm afraid. Just like tyres, they have a choice and its pot luck what you get. If you ask BMW for yor pads, again you'll get whatever is in stock, they're made to a spec, so manufacturer is irrelavent really. They buy whatever is cheapest and meets their spec, they don't care about brand loyalty with their suppliers. If you don't want an upgrade, just go to eurocarparts and get whichever you like, OE spec is OE spec. Yes change pad wear sensors at the same time (1 front and 1 rear) Yes you have separate brake shoes for your handbrake in the rear hub. I doubt they're worn, might just need stripping and cleaning up, try pulling the handbrake lever harder, does it hold the car then? |

Difficult to say tbh doughboy seems abit hit and miss at times, though thats what the BWM tech said "pull the handbrake up abit further son"
Sometimes it just bites and holds as normal and other times the car just rolls. It did actually roll on a hill when I test drove the car a couple of years ago before I purchased it and it was fixed when I got the car. Though I have read a few threads about crappy BMW handbrakes. |

I have an e36 with brand new handbrake components and my e92 has 85k on it with the original shoes properly adjusted and they both hold perfectly on the 4th or 5th click. |
