Corvette Stingray C7 or Mercedes CLA45 AMG
I purchased my BMW 335d last year used with 30k on the clock. It's been exactly 1 year since I picked up that car and it now has 40k. It has been to the dealership 4 times, once for a recall and 3 times for a check engine light. The 335d has some major issues with it's emissions system that has caused the dealership to replace, all 6 injectors, the UREA tank, metering valve, and EGR. I'm kinda over this car and the problems that it has and will have in the future. I will be selling this car and getting something else in the coming year and are looking at 2 that has caught my eyes. What are your thoughts?

Those are about as different as you could get. Go test drive a C6 and a Golf R for a similar sense of what you're getting into. Remember that the CLA is a fwd based car that can only send a maximum of 60% of the power to the rear once slip is detected.

I have cross shopped very different cars in the past, now that I think about it, I don't think I have ever narrowed my choices to two similar/competing cars. I usually know what I like in each genre of car, it's just down to convincing myself that I can get away with the one that is more fun!

Stingray all the way. The Benz looks like a Corolla with a body kit.

Yes you can say they are opposite cars but I disagree, a polar opposite car would be a minivan vs a Porsche 911 Turbo.
In regards to the cars I have listed above, I didn't say they were similar. They are similarly priced and they are two cars that has gotten me excited since its introduction, so I'm just looking for some opinion on what the board thinks. |

The C7 is in another league. Unless your lifestyle deems it necessary for you to own a 4+ seat car, go for the Vette.

If the OP is a 60 year-old balding fat dude then definitely the 'vette, as that's all I ever see driving them. I stand corrected, I see guys from "Jersey Shore" driving as well.

The only reason this stereotype is still around is due to the ignorant people that continue to reinforce the idea that it still exists. Either way it's the superior car in this poll.

Understeering all day long, go for A45 AMG or if you like oversteering and not need four seats go for C7. If you want something between these, wait F80 M3.

no one brings an american car to a dealership anyway for service, so i guess it works. I never did for the 10 years I have american cars before. Buy them and if they break, bring it to any mechanic around. easy cars to own.

Definitely Apples and Oranges.
I'd get the vette or wait for a release of a faster model. I may be a bit biased though since I have a Z06. You can never go wrong with a Corvette, it's loved by everybody even non car enthusiast. I've gotten the thumbs up from the most random people. Every time I pull up to a shopping center, gym, restaurant, or just on the highway people throw out hte thumbs up or say "nice vette". I've owned a bunch of cars and it's the only one that turns heads. People just love them. I wish I could get the C7 interior in my car. That's the only deal breaker for some people looking into Corvettes in the past. The interior is blah. |
