Vanos selonoid help!

So i been getting a code at wot once in a while for the past week 2a78 for jammed exhaust vanos selonoid followed by 3100 a limp mode code. My question is i been doing research how many of you guys cleaned the sensors and were fine vs replacing them. Also is the the reason that this code is being thrown for the sensor? Thanks any help is appreciated

I had the same issue at 27000 miles. I cleaned and swapped them along with an oil change and it's been fine so.

it's a super Easy DIY, I would recommend just replacing them. I find once they start throwing codes, even after cleaning they return.

Clean them and reinstall...you can swap if you want, or just see if the code goes away. If it comes back, try swapping and see if the code follows the solenoid to the intake side. Then you know you need to replace that solenoid.

If you are still getting a code on the exhaust side after cleaning and swapping, then its most likely another issue (probably bearing ledges, though not sure they were an issue on the M3?)

I cleaned mine with some high pressure air, and changed the oil. No recurrences since, very simple.

Clean and swap didn't help me at all. Still was getting codes mostly on exhaust side. Replaced both solenoids and no codes for about 20k miles.

You can also get an electric parts cleaner spray (Lectra-Motive) at any parts store.

I got these codes and replaced solonoids( as well as coils and spark plugs) and car still went into limp mode. it was a boost leak under inlet manifold. fixed it
