Purchased used 07 VW GTI. Good deal or not?

I went to VW dealership today and bought a used 07 GTI, AKA "FAST".

the car have 9000 miles on it and Fully loaded, package 1 and 2?? maybe??, except for AT and Navi.

Suggested price was $24000.

Car was in great shape. I love it.

I paid $21000 for it and got new GTI floor mat and FAST (the evil looking doll) for free.

Is it good deal or not???

Buying an AT GTI is such a looser thing. you know...

KBB value was a little bit below it.

oh. I was so surprised at the price of the doll. it was $250 or something... haha

If you've already bought it; who cares if the deal was good or not. It's done and over.

Regardless, it does sound like you got a good deal. Congrats on the car; I've debated picking up a GTI myself. Let's see some pics.

The AT on the GTI is faster than MT.

Good choice...don't worry about whether it's a good deal or not...you already bought it. Don't chew yourself up by worrying about things like that...just enjoy the car!

First step...the mods. May I suggest replica 18" B7 RS4 rims on it? They look sweet on Audi's and VWs.

Good car. The steptronic is actually very good in the GTI. As good as BMW's if not better.

Minor quibble...but it's not steptronic. It's DSG...two clutches. It is a very sophisticated gearbox and way more advanced than the steptronic in BMWs. It's even better than the SMG system used in the M cars. Rumour has it that a form of it will be featured in the new M3.

You're right about that...it's definately less involving...but fawk...it down shifts perfectly. You can really drive fast in that thing...approach a hard corner downshift 5-4-3 (bam-bam-bam) and accelerate out. All perfect shifts and the car is not unsettled all...

I can try to rev match on my MT...but I'm nowhere as smooth. Accelerating out...you can leave your foot planted to the floor and hit the lever 2-3-4-5 (bam-bam-bam-bam)...not that you really ever need to shift that fast up the gears...but in the same time as this thing...I've only completed a shift from 2-3 manually. A pro racing driver could probably squeak out 2-3-4. Most of us would have to just skip a gear and go from 2-4.

But the best thing about this thing is really how well it down shifts...

oh man you will get used to it so quick, dont even worry about it. it'll take you less than a few weeks to know exactly how much to blip ur gas, etc..
and in manual you can go 1-6 directly

See...yeah when I do a perfect heel-and-toe...I cheer quietly to myself...it truly feels great. But I'm definately not as consistent or as smooth as a machine...these things are just getting too good. The old clunky/slow tiptronics of yesteryear are disappearing.

Let's say I was buying the new M3...and it was available both in manual flavour or a DSG tranny like the GTI...I'd take the DSG tranny without even thinking about it. It's that good.

i understand your choice completely. It's funny i am ditching my 6mt G35 for 6AT 335. i am coming to realize that i probably enjoy a honda civic that's stick shift over any auto car hahaha
that's just me tho, im sure that might change in a few years

You got a crappy deal. The only way to fix it is to send me the Fast (evil looking little dude), then all will be right with the world.

I thought those commercials by VW were fantastic! The Fast ones, and the "Unpimp ze Auto" ones. My favorite "Fast" was the one where the guy's girlfriend won't shut up. My favorite "Unpimp" is the trebuchet.

Unpimp ze auto!
Sometimes my Fast doesn't get along with my girlfriend

Now go out and flog that thing!! :rocks:

I saw a gunmetal GTI with some nice polished rims yesterday. Looked good. I had an orange rabbit a long time ago. I would buy a Mk V in a second. Fun cars.
