Interesting question? Without more detail its kinda a "how long is a piece of string" question.
Does this involve a colour change or are you repairing some sort of paint damage. I recently priced a respray for an e30 with faded paint. This assumes no panel repair - just prep and paint the outside panels on the car. This was around $5000. A full respray could easily exceed $10k - depends on how much prep time is needed - for example, a colour change would essentially involve stripping the car to a bare shell if you wanted a factory type job. Perhaps you'd care to elaborate. I can recommend a great bodyshop if you need one.

Oh, sorry. Was after a complete colour change. So pretty much stripping the whole car. But if it's gonna cost 10k. I'd rather trade in and get a new car. I'm really sick of black because it's so damn hard to keep clean and you can see very small imperfections. Would love a white e90 and in manual & also the nav+tv! MUST HAVE! Comtemplating.. =\ What do you guys think i should do?
How much do you guys think my car would go for? 2006 e90 320i - 13,XXX km - Metallic paint - Lemon leather interior - Wood grain trim - M sports. 18" wheels, Body kit, sport seats, etc. - Sunroof - Xenon lighting - Auto - Parking sensors I think that's pretty much it. Thanks guys! |

Take the depreciation hit and get another car.
A repainted late model BMW involving a colour change will be worth next to nothing on the second hand market next to its counterparts. |

As far as resale goes - dealers are asking $55k -$65k with lower k's. Trade in price will be $45k - $55k. Perhaps black isn't so bad?

wow - I knew Black was hard to maintain but nevertheless it was on my shortlist of colors when I eventually buy my E90 but your post has me freaked out now - is it really that bad?
isnt it all worth it when you wash it and it sparkles like new? I had a Silver car which was damn easy maintain but washing and waxing had no payoff - looked the same always. |

Any dark coloured car is going to be high maintainance to keep clean however if you are passionate to keep clean the rewards in the shine are worth it. At least to me it is thats why I wash mine each week. My other car is white and it just doesn't do it for me but since it's my wifes it's perfect because it doesn't get washed unless I do it and mine takes priority each weekend.

If you go black - invest in good quality micro fibre cloths and chamois and use a quality sealer or wax.

Honestly, i was 100% on black when i was looking to get an e90, no one could convince me to get any other colour but black. I wanted black because i found it to be more agressive, and sure is! But you can't really see the beautiful curves on the car. And it's a pain to keep clean, I'll wash and say about 5 minutes later, it's all dusty. Then give it 2-3 days and it's pretty dirty. IMO, black is the best looking colour when freshly cleaned. NO DOUBT. Really think about it dude before making any decisions, but if you really want it, go for it. After owning it for only a few months, i deeply regret my decision. Contemplating...... I'll get back to you guys on with what i plan to do.. |

Something to concider is the brand of wax used. My car seem to collect less dust now that I use Swisol. When I used Meguirs NXT, the car was dusty within half an hour and by the end of the week looked ready for it's weekly bath. Now it stays cleaner longer. Very subjective but the Swisol is worth the extra money in my eyes.

If I knew of a hand car wash place in Brisbane run by a car enthusist as opposed to ex footballers then I would too. The guy in the ofice next to me has a current 5 series on 19's and they kerbed one of his rims. They repaired it but it's not the point. All their interested in is getting the cars in and out quicker than it takes you to drink your coffee.

Guys, I've got another question.
How much tax and all that other crap do you think would be added on top of about $64k RRP. And from that how much do you think i would be able to bargain it down too? Thanks guys. Oh and Captoz, where's your carwash at brother? |

Go into your dealer and get the drive away price then negotiate away. The general concensis is 8% less would be a fair discount to aim for however it also depends if you have a trade in. Time of the month is a bigger factor in used cars but if new order intake for the month is low then the dealer might be a little more generous to lock up your deal. Good luck with it..... |
