Car insurance?

My insurance states that I can drive any car not owned by myself. My question is, can I drive that car if it is uninsured by the present owner? TIA.

Could you expand a bit?

When I worked in insurance (many years ago) you got the minimum legal cover (RTA not Third Party) on driving another vehicle. So it was legal but a bit risky and antisocial as RTA does not cover third party damage.

Third Party Extension covers you to drive another persons car with Third Party Cover as long as their car is fully insured and doesn't have any clauses that say others can't drive their car (for example young drivers).

This is normally the case, their may be exceptions/variations to the above.

If you drive an unisured vehicle under the terms of your driving other vehicles extension and have an accident, your insurer will be liable for third party claims, however an uninsured car should not be on a public road.
