Driving home tonight my car was misfiring. I only had a SES light and car wasn't running too bad. As I continue driving the car starts to stumble and I smell gas. Next thing the car stalls and when I try to restart the engine bay catches fire. The car was toast by the time the fire dept showed up. Comments.....

the insurance company has no need whatsoever to know what modifications were done to the car. so do not tell them anything other than whats highlighted above.

that sucks! can anyone guess why it caught fire? for mobile users, the mods are: JB4 15 ohm / VRSF FMIC & DP's / H&R Sport / Koni / Forge DV's / Stett CP / Alcantara Wrapped Interior

Just tell them it was stock, they're not going to investigate much. Regardless none of those modifications post many concerns to an insurance company. Besides Jb4 and that's probably a smoke stack now.

Glad to hear you're ok. That really blows. Hope you are able to figure out the cause so you can share the with the community so this doesn't happen to anyone else.

On a side note... I would really stop posting on the internet about this until after your claim is settled. I am not saying you did anything wrong to cause this but the less information the better. I am just trying to save you any further headache. I am a network admin for an insurance company here in FL and I have worked with our adjusters on using the internet to gather information about claims... especially auto claims. I have seen our claims department deny claims based on information found on people's Facebook pages, Twitter accounts, and public forums such as this. Regardless if who or what is fault they will use any information possible to deny your claim (trust me I think this BS but this is how the business works). You're not running meth, nitrous, or rocket fuel (joke) but the sheer mention that you have modified your car gives them a leg to stand on. If they find any reason to deny your claim they will and then you'll have to deal with taking them to court to get your money and I'm sure that is a hassle you just don't want to have to deal with.

Again.. I am just trying to help. I personally don't think any of your mods did anything to cause this but you don't want to give them any ammunition against you. If anything I would definitely remove the picture of your car burning. It's the only pic that can identify you car.
