Rolling Code Programming for Garage Doors
I have a 2008 335xi that I'm trying to set up the garage door remote on. The door is a Genie which is a rolling code type.
I reset the stored codes by holding 1 and 3 down until the LED went out. Then I held 1 down and the Genie down at the same time. The LED is supposed to blink slowly until it learns the code, then blink quickly. I can wait for minutes and it never blinks quickly. The door opener LED blinks the whole time the Genie remote button is pressed, so I know the Genie remote is sending out a signal. Any ideas?

Keep moving the garage door opener around the rear view mirror you will get it eventually. I set up my garage door opener genie as well like a 1996 opener. My magic spot was on the lower corner of the rear view mirror on the driver side.

Nah, the instructions are wrong.
You have to press the button you want 3-4x. It took me three tries reading all kinds of instructions, but I don't remember which ones helped. I'd try: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=128533 Pay CLOSE attention to step 8. You have to repeat the process several times before it works. Trust me, it's not idiot-proof. |

I think you might have to set it up, then press Code on the Door opener. It is a reaaaaaaal PITA to get the correct method. I *think* I have it printed at home, I'll try to round it up for you. J |

And did you try this?
UNIVERSAL HOME REMOTE FOR HOMELINK (UHR) OR CAR2U IN-CAR SYSTEM Programming a Rolling Code Garage Door Opener If your in-car (UHR) remote has 3 LED lights, one above each button, you should follow the instructions below to program your Rolling Code Garage Door Opener. Press the outer two in-car (UHR) buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds and release (In most cases, the key should be on auxilary, and/or the car door must be shut). Place the garage door opener into "learn" mode by pressing the small square colored button, or the small round black button on a Genie, located behind the light bulb globe in the garage. This may require the use of a ladder, follow all safety precautions. The LED on the garage door opener will go on immediately. For Genie openers the LED will begin blinking. Press and hold the button on the in-car (UHR) remote that you want to use for operation of the garage door to activate. Watch for the garage door to activate. When the garage door activates, release the button and depress again the selected button to lock in the program. Programming of Rolling Code garage door opener is now complete. From GenieDoor site. |
