PCD and trade-ins

My first post, here it goes:
I've got a new baby on the way. Her name is Claudia, she's an "Arrest Me" Red 335i E92. Muy excited. I'm taking delivery at the performance center Oct 12.

I got the dealer to agree to set a price for my trade when I go in to pay for the car this weekend. The agreement with come with obvious conditions such as, "Don't hit a tree" and "Don't add a bajillion miles." Then I'm going to have my car until the day before delivery and drop it off at the dealer on my way to Greenville.

The person I'm working with at the dealer told me today that when I pay on Saturday, the registration would actually transfer from my old car to my new car, even though I don't physically take ownership for a few weeks. As a result, my current plate won't be good on my old car for these next few weeks. The solution is to get a new plate for the new car and leave the old car registered with the old plate until I pick up Claudia, then I just mail in the plate to SC DMV. I'm concerned that if I do this, I'll have to pay full property tax on the new ride to get the new plate, instead of just being able to switch it over without paying any extra. I'm also concerned about getting my plate since I'm temporarly living in NC with someone I don't know renting my permanent address in SC.

Is there anyone who is familiar with SC laws and how to transfer the plate over without the hassle?

Thanks,
Mooreski

I'm a little

Is your current ride registered in NC or SC and what state will your new ride be registered in? You're also living with someone you don't know? I would sleep with my door locked.

My advice is to contact the DMV of whichever state you are planning to register the car in and get the correct info from them.
